Job Type: Part time, Hourly

Wage: $14-$16/hr. 

Location: Leadville, CO.

Job Description

The Library Assistant works in the circulation department and assists patrons in several ways including, but not limited to, finding library materials, answering general inquires, and helping with public computer usage. The Library Assistant also shelves books using the Dewey Decimal System and processes new books. Other duties are dependent on rank among Library Assistant I, II, or III.

General Duties and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Essential Functions

  • Carry out daily circulation tasks.
  • Provide excellent services to patrons.
  • Promote the Library’s mission and values.
  • Process new materials.
  • Assist patrons with computers and computer applications.
  • Maintains library stacks by re-shelving materials and shelf-reading.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Bilingual Staff: In coordination with the Spanish Services Coordinator, bilingual staff will assist in translations and/or interpretation for the library.

Supervisory Responsibilities No supervisory responsibility

Requirements

  • Previous experience: Under 1 year of experience.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Assigned responsibilities

  • Years of service with Lake County: 0-1 year; considered for LA II after 1 year.
  • Incumbents learn and perform, under supervision, a variety of basic circulation work.
