Job Description:
Lake County is located two hours west of Denver in the heart of Colorado’s highest peaks at 10,200 feet. There are about 7,000 people in Lake County, and Leadville is the main city. Many adults commute to work in the service industry in nearby ski areas. We have a strong history of mining, adventure recreation, and outdoor enthusiasm. Lake County Elementary School consists of about students in grades K, 1, and 2. We are seeking a Kindergarten Paraprofessional for the 2023-2024 school year. Reports To: Building Principal and Kindergarten teaching team
Salary: $17.00/hour for 179 day contract plus EXCELLENT benefits including health, vision, and dental insurance and Paid Time Off (12 days)
Length of Assignment: 179 days for 2023-2024 School Year. 162 student contact days. Follows the LCSD Calendar. The majority of work days are on a 4 day work week beginning in August and ending in June. Additional days include professional development and work days
Primary Purpose:
To support teachers and students in Kindergarten.
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
- Provide academic support for kindergarten students both within the classroom and for small groups.
- Activities will be directed by classroom teacher or building administration.
- Willingness to learn new skills, capacity to engage kindergarteners in activities to make learning fun, and excellent professionalism are important to help our youngest learners!
- Support classroom teachers during large-group instruction of foundational skills, math or literacy.
- Follow behavior plans, IEPs, and behavior policies and practices of LCES.
- Support students during specials rotations and language instructional blocks.
- Deliver teacher-created, small group lessons in foundational skills, math or literacy.
- Learn the foundational skills, math, literacy, and intervention strategies as needed.
- Model and implement school-wide policies and expectations.
- Supervise students either in the classroom or in small groups.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- GED or High School Diploma
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Collaborative mindset and great communication skills
