Wage: $65,000-$85,000 /yr.

Location: Leadville, CO.

Job Description:

Length of Assignment: 240 Contract Days per year; follows general LCSD calendar.  FLSA: Exempt

Salary: Commensurate with experience and education: $65,000-$85,000 per year, plus excellent benefits! (Health, Dental, Vision, Life, 16 days PTO, and 10 days Annual leave!)  Salary and Benefits will be prorated according to initial start date.

Start Date: 2/10/2025 or sooner

Primary purpose:

The IT Director is responsible and accountable for the functionality, support, and optimization of specific technology systems, programs, and processes within the district. The IT Director will apply subject matter expertise to execute, maintain, and manage the implementation and maintenance of the district’s technology needs to ensure continuity of business and services. This position ensures the provision of end-user support, administration, configuration, and maintenance of servers, operating systems, and other IT infrastructure while adhering to district policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will have the necessary skills, professional experience, and detailed  knowledge of best practice processes.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership and Oversight

  • Develop and execute a long-term vision for technology systems and services aligned with the district’s educational and operational goals.
  • Provide high-quality, efficient, and secure technology services.
  • Manage the IT department budget, including purchasing, licensing, and maintenance of resources.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and district technology policies and regulations.
  • Manage, mentor, and evaluate any IT employees.

Technology Infrastructure and Support

  • Oversee and manage the district’s voice and data network, including monitoring, training, troubleshooting, security, and coordination of installations and updates.
  • Administer and manage devices using platforms such as iOS MDM systems.
  • Maintain and enhance IT systems through research, evaluation, and implementation of upgrades and best practices.
  • Monitor network performance to ensure efficient use and prevent misuse.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve escalated technical issues, focusing on systemic improvement and root cause analysis.

Team Management and Collaboration

  • Provide technical and administrative support, including documentation, process management, and activity coordination.
  • Collaborate with district stakeholders, vendors, and external partners to implement and maintain effective IT systems.

End-User Support and Communication

  • Resolve trouble tickets promptly and maintain clear communication throughout the process.
  • Ensure installations and updates are completed within established timelines.
  • Provide professional development and support to staff for technology usage and integration.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • IT Certifications/Experience
    • CompTIA A+,Network, Security
    • Microsoft Azure, 365
    • Google Professional Workspace Administrator
  • Three or more years of technology repair and network service experience.
  • Proven experience as an IT manager, support specialist, or in a leadership role.
  • Must be able to pass the required fingerprint/background check prior to start date.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of voice and data networking, including VLANs, routing, and configuration.
  • Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration, and installation, including:
    • Windows networking (group policy management, domain administration).
    • Windows OS (Server 2012/2016, Windows 10 Enterprise).
    • Google Workspace (administration and cloud services).
    • iOS administration.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in:
    • Cybersecurity.
    • Database management (e.g., PowerSchool).
    • Firewall policy (e.g., FortiGate).
    • Active Directory (e.g., Microsoft Azure).
    • Backup solutions (e.g., Veeam).
    • Fortinet products.

Interpersonal and Organizational Skills

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands:

Physical demands for this job are representative of those required to be met by an employee.  While performing this job, the employee is frequently required to climb ladders, sit or stand for extended periods of time, work with close visual acuity and delicate finger work. Electrical cords and computer equipment are in the daily work environment. Lifting, carrying, and reaching  items up to 50 pounds may occur. This position may require flexible shifts to accommodate updates and work during non-school hours or school breaks.
