Summary: The Royal Gorge Route Railroad is seeking a hands-on IT & AV Systems Support Specialist to spearhead our on-site technology operations. This complex, multi-faceted role supports multiple business units and ensures seamless functioning of all IT and Audio-Visual systems. This position will transition daily IT duties from external vendors and serve as the primary internal resource for all hardware, software, and AV needs.
Essential Functions
· Oversee and maintain IT infrastructure across:
o Business office LAN & peripherals
o Point of sale (POS) systems and connectivity (Train + Mansion + Caboose operations)
o Audio-Visual systems (boardrooms, Laser light show trains, events, etc.)
o Onsite desktops, laptops, Wi-Fi, printers and A/V devices
· Provide day-to-day support for hardware and software systems across offices, ticketing counters, POS systems, and business operations.
· Act as first responder for IT outages and equipment malfunctions
· Troubleshoot and resolve IT issues related to Windows operating systems, networking, printers, tablets, handhelds, and cloud-based software.
· Document system configurations, network diagrams, and incident reports
· Support and maintain the ticketing and reservation system
· Collaborate with department leaders to align systems with business needs
· Ensure continuous operation of Wi-Fi, A/V and communications systems across all train cars.
· Assist with server and network maintenance, upgrades, and backup routines.
· Configure new hardware, install software, and update systems as needed.
· Maintain IT asset inventory and ensure security protocols are followed.
· Provide technical support and training to staff on systems use and best practices.
· Manage vendors and contractor relationships as needed for system upgrades or issue resolution.
· Monitor cybersecurity and data protection measures in accordance with company policy.
· Participate in after-hours or weekend support rotation, as needed, especially during peak tourism season.
· Keep current on AV & IT trends, attend training courses and earn certifications as needed
· Train and mentor users and cross-train internal staff for redundancy when possible
· Other duties as assigned by management
Education/Minimum Requirements
Required:
· 5+ years’ experience in IT infrastructure (network, Wi-Fi, endpoints)
· 3+ years’ experience in Audio-Visual system support or management
Preferred:
· IT certifications (CompTIA A+/Network+, Microsoft MCSA, Cisco CCNA)
· AV credentials (CTS, Crestron/Extron certification)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
· Experience managing migrations and tech rollouts
· Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN, routers, switches, access points, printers, POS, A/V gear
· Experience with cloud-based POS systems and remote access tools
· Service-oriented mindset, strong communicator, excellent problem-solving skills
· Ability to manage vendors and represent the company professionally
· Ability to work on-site in Canon City, CO
· Flexible availability, position requires occasional support after hours
· Experience in hospitality, tourism, or transportation industry.
· Understanding of wireless network setup and troubleshooting in complex environments.
· Knowledge of VoIP phone systems and basic server management.
Working Conditions/Essential Job Functions
· Primarily on-site, with work occurring in both office and train environments.
· Some tasks may involve working in confined spaces or around moving equipment.
· Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and occasionally climb on/off train cars or platforms.
· Work schedule will include weekends, holidays, and evenings
