About the Position: 

The City of Grand Junction, CO is seeking an experienced IT Applications Supervisor, a crucial role requiring strong technical execution and team leadership skills. This role offers the opportunity to lead our exceptional Applications team as we complete the implementation of our new Human Capital Management (HCM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. This position is key to ensuring the alignment of our IT strategy with city-wide objectives, overseeing both the initial system implementation and ongoing maintenance and enhancements. The IT Applications Supervisor will play a pivotal role in nurturing team development and leading effective project delivery, ensuring our IT initiatives meet both current and future city needs.


About the Information Technology Department: 
The Information Technology department manages the City's various hardware and software systems, networks, and GIS services. We are a dynamic team that takes a proactive approach to our work and strives to provide speedy response times, collaborative partnerships, continuous improvement, and exemplary service. The IT department is a significant collaborative partner in the city’s upcoming HCM and ERP implementation.

Duties

What You'll Do:
  • Lead and supervise IT staff, manage city-wide systems, and ensure security compliance. 
  • Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, and review the work of assigned staff.
  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives for assigned programs and functions.
  • Participate in the development and administration of the department's annual budget.
  • Oversee, coordinate, and modify systems, networks, or application(s) for implementation of city-wide computer hardware and software services.
  • Administer and implement new technology projects; develop system design and functional specifications; plan, schedule, and test systems/upgrades: Train users.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with other departments and outside agencies.
  • Supervise system, website, GIS and database administration tasks, including periodic maintenance, patch installations, and data collection and validation.
  • Design, manage, monitor and enforce security administration for assigned systems.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Qualifications

This position is a safety sensitive position, which means you will be subject to random drugscreens due to the nature of the work performed. 

What We're Looking For: 

  • Six (6) years of information technology experience in a variety of IT functions including one (1) year of administrative and supervisory experience. Experience with HCM and/or ERP implementation is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in information technology, computer science, or a related field.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver's license. 
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
