Salary: $17.34–$18.38 per hour (based on the Instructional Support Salary Schedule, education, and experience)

Purpose of the Job: The primary role of the ISS Support Paraprofessional is to supervise, mentor, and counsel students in the In-School Suspension (ISS) program. This individual must effectively manage multiple programs within one classroom, maintain a calm and structured learning environment, and uphold high student behavior and accountability standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High School Diploma (required)
Licenses/Certificates:
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License (required)
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within the first year of employment)
- Training in nonviolent crisis intervention (preferred or within the first year)
- FEMA IS 100: Introduction to Incident Command Systems for Schools (required within 60 days of hire)
Experience:
- Experience working with students in grades 6–12 is preferred.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of a criminal background check
- Competency with technology, including Google Suite and student information systems (e.g., Infinite Campus)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a school environment
- Strong communication, social, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to confidentiality and professional integrity
- Maintain active supervision throughout the school day
Essential Duties of the Job: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.)
- Provide consistent supervision, mentoring, and redirection for students assigned to ISS.
- Foster a calm, focused classroom environment to support academic progress and behavioral reflection.
- Maintain visibility throughout the school day to monitor hallways, common areas, and student transitions.
- Collaborate with administration and the School Resource Officer to support campus safety and security policies.
- Actively participate in the Building Safety and Emergency Response Team and assist with emergency drills.
- Enforce school rules and parking policies and assist with monitoring campus traffic.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families to promote positive behaviors and academic accountability.
- Accurately Document student attendance, behavior incidents, and other required reports.
- Support the implementation of district technology policies and ensure student data privacy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong proficiency in computer applications, including Infinite Campus and Google Sheets.
- General understanding of office practices and equipment.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviors and implement de-escalation strategies.
- Knowledge of school safety procedures and emergency protocols.
Physical Demands:
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and interact with students throughout the school day.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs, as needed, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
Work Environment:
- Primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor duties in varying weather conditions.
- Quiet to moderate noise levels, with potential increases during events or emergencies.
Mental Functions:
- Analyze, evaluate, and communicate effectively in various situations.
- Coordinate and instruct students while maintaining professional composure.
