Job: Imaging Supervisor

ESSENTIAL DUTIES PER AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

1. Helps with the development of policies and procedures that guide and support the imaging department Continually assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided by the imaging department.
2. Works to keep the department running smoothly by taking any phone calls where tasks may be warranted and designating assignments to staff members
3. Assists manager with department meeting agendas and moderates discussions between staff members during department meetings.
4. Assists the Manager in ensuring adequate staffing to meet the service needs of the community.
5. Reviews staff timesheets along with department manager to ensure accuracy.
6. Assists in ordering supplies and special order items meeting the specific needs of the department and radiologists.
7. Calls for service if equipment is not working properly. Assists in scheduling preventative maintenance.
8. Assists technologists across all modalities to keep the schedule running on time. Competent at IV starts using aseptic technique.
9. Makes recommendations regarding staff technologists and support personnel performance for annual review. Performs quarterly one-on-ones, along with department manager.Oversees the clinical performance of staff via orientation, direct observation, chart reviews and meetings. Interacts positively with new recruits presenting the organization in a positive manner.
10. Manages and maintains protocols across modalities/equipment to ensure imaging exams are standardized and meeting specific criteria set by the
radiologist(s).
11. Oversees and continues to develop the education program to ensure all department staff are up to date and compliant. Works directly with the education department to schedule MOC Codes and skills days in the department.
12. Communicates any concerns or issues directly with their manager whenever possible or consults immediately with their immediate supervisor. Does not wait to be rounded on to share concerns.
13. Consistently provides quality patient care in a professional atmosphere while performing a variant of radiographic procedures with accuracy and professionalism as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Follows all practice standards set forth by the ASRT (American Society of Radiologic Technologists) for medical imaging including applicable advanced modalities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Must have graduated from an approved ARRT program
• Three years of responsible leadership experience preferably in an imaging setting. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Current Registration by the ARRT in radiology.
• Three years of responsible leadership expereince, preferably in Imaging setting
• Current CPR certification.

As a supervisor, responsibility is confined to a defined area of the organization. This role is for leadership development and mentoring and assumes responsibility for the overall function of the department in the absence of the manager. The employee in this role demonstrates expertise and is able to handle multiple priorities. Responsible for coordination and execution of staff education and functions as a role model for current and new staff. Utilizes problem solving techniques to prevent conflict and promote team development. Leads other personnel in the provision of duties and maintains a calm and safe environment for customers and staff.
