Job Description:
The Ice Rink technician is a winter season position that is responsible for maintaining the quality of the ice surface at Huck Finn Ice Rink by prepping the ice for the season, regularly resurfacing it with a Zamboni machine, monitoring ice conditions, plowing and brooming to remove snow, addressing any issues to ensure optimal skating conditions, and assisting curling league with ice maintenance.

Essential Functions
- Operates Zamboni machine to regularly resurface the ice at Huck Finn Ice Rink
- Monitoring ice thickness and quality
- Identifies and addresses ice imperfections like cracks or uneven surfaces
- Performs general maintenance of the equipment and informs mechanics of any issues
- Plows or brooms ice to remove snow when needed
- Assist curling league with set up and tear down on league nights
- Performs other duties as assigned

With advanced notification from OEM, employees will make reasonable efforts to attend training events in coordination with other employees and supervisors.

Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have a current valid driver’s license
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must have knowledge of the skills required for properly running heavy equipment
- Strong verbal communication skills
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (training available)
Physical Activity & Work Environment
- Risks associated with working in proximity to moving machinery and equipment.
- Ability to work in harsh weather conditions during winter months, including low temperatures, snow, and ice.
- Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, twist
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to see close up and far away, with or without glasses or contacts.
