GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Home Visitor position requires planning, organizing, and conducting weekly home visits and twice monthly group events based on the individual needs of families in coordination with program goals and objectives, Head Start Performance Standards, and the State of Colorado Child Care Licensing Regulations. The position requires an ability to build strong relationships and create a responsive programming that supports children and families from diverse backgrounds and abilities. This position requires a high degree of collaborative communication. It also requires substantial organizational and time management skills. Documentation and assessments require a skill set that allows for efficiency and accessibility. A high level of autonomy is expected with equal amounts of self-management. Work calendar includes summer hours, scheduled with supervisor.

 Conduct weekly home visits lasting 1.5 hours for each family on a flexible schedule

 Plan and prepare individualized visits which support parents and foster the development of children using the Growing Great Kids curriculum and additional resources as necessary.

 Observe and assess children’s developmental and social and emotional growth. Support families in their understanding of young children’s development.

 Plan, prepare, and conduct two family events per month.

 Knowledge of child development

 Ability to work in a developmentally appropriate setting

 Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.

 Communicate with team members and community resources to ensure a whole family approach to early childhood education.

 Regularly participate in reflective supervision.

 Maintain accurate records for home visit and family event participation, planning, individualization, screening, observation, family contacts, and assessments.

 Basic knowledge of technology

Preferred experience/knowledge/ability:

 Experience with children 0-5 years old and families.

 Be able to work effectively and create a positive rapport with young children and families, staff, administration, parents and community members

 Possess experience using technology to support instruction and evaluation

 An AA in Early Childhood or related degree is preferred

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
