Wage: $16.54-$16.55/hr. 

Location: Canon City, CO.

Job Description

Starpoint’s Parenting Support program coordinates and integrates a service system that builds on the strengths of families and communities; emphasizes collaborative approaches, facilitates delivery of prevention, intervention, and support services for families; prevents child abuse and neglect, protects children from further abuse, and promotes permanency for children within their own families. This position provides individualized family/child development education and supportive services in family homes with children age birth to 17. This position is responsible for acting as a resource and assisting with the development of strategies for families to stabilize and strengthen their support network. This position is a grant-funded position and subject to grant budget and regulatory guidelines.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Providing weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly home visits – dependent on family need

· Strengthening parent-child interactions

· Facilitating access to community resources for example education, housing, food assistance, and childcare.

· Is responsible for reaching out to families referred for home visiting services that reside in our service area and keeps track of the progress and outcomes of those families.

· Identifies and articulates critical issues confronting the family and uses them as a basis for creating a support plan.

· Builds on family strengths to meet participant needs and/or respond to crisis and stress.

· Implements home visitation curriculum to fidelity to maximum family support outcomes.

· Uses strategies to build trust and rapport with families.

· Identifies key points and subtleties in a manner that promotes interaction even in adverse conditions.

· Accepts cultural diversity and integrates the family’s values and culture into a support plan that reflects the family’s agenda and background.

· Respects differences and offers information about alternatives if certain cultural practices are harmful to any member of the family.

· Participates in team meetings and trainings, shares experience and insight at said events, seeks input from others, and utilizes any information learned in daily work practices.

· Identifies community needs and addresses those needs through team meetings and events.

· Coordinates and facilitates monthly networking/strengthening events for families

· Conducts outreach to other agencies within the service area to support families’ goals.

· Embraces and incorporates Protective Factors into all family support strategies.

· Incorporates families’ strengths in the development of the participant’s independence to solve their own problems.

· Reports incidents of child abuse and neglect, and becomes an active member of the intervention team to assist families in modifying behaviors or conditions that promoted the abuse and neglect.

· Within the required time frame(s) document all participant encounters in Starpoint systems and any other grant-specific databases.

Requirements

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

· Understanding of family support and strengthening.

· Understanding trauma-informed care and trauma-informed response.

· Experience raising or cared for a child, youth, or adolescent with mental health or co-occurring disorders and has worked with multiple agencies/providers.

· Divergent thinking when seeking resources, tools, and programs.

· Ability to work with families on a variety of support needs (housing, finances, parenting etc.)

· Ability to be a team player and work with diverse professionals.

· Self-Confident with the ability to empower with non-judgment.

· Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and time management/ organization skills.

· Demonstrate excellent technological/computer skills and must be comfortable with managing different database systems and meeting multiple deadlines.

· Excellent at tracking and demonstrating clear documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

· Must have a valid Colorado driver’s license and certificate of personal auto insurance on file.
