Wage: $36,000-$38,000/yr.

Job Description:

Trinidad State College is seeking a Head Men’s Wrestling Coach. The successful candidate will serve as head men’s wrestling coach including all aspects of coaching responsibilities which include coaching and teaching the sport, assisting in daily practices with drills, technique, conditioning, recruiting, planning, and assisting in game day management. This position is responsible for the supervision of players during road trips. The head wrestling coach will also work to develop and promote other areas of the wrestling program, including fundraising, classroom success, compliance with NJCAA, Region 9, and college rules/regulations. They will work to develop an attitude of campus teamwork. Other duties and responsibilities can be assigned as deemed necessary by the Athletic Director. 

Examples of Duties

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Serve as head wrestling coach, demonstrating leadership and sportsmanship
  • Develop, promote, and implement the Wrestling Program at TSC, including setting up schedules for both men’s and women’s competitive seasons, as well as developing/setting up practice facilities
  • Designs, executes, and assesses athlete skill development, practice and game preparation activities
  • Oversight of wrestling program administrative operations including scheduling and team travel, equipment/apparel ordering, as well as budget planning and management
  • Recruit student athletes from local, Colorado and regional high schools
  • Develop and pursue annual recruiting goals and program goals. 
  • Monitor and encourage academic progress of student athletes
  • Aid and assist the institution in any aspect of NJCAA compliance
  • Teach PED classes specific to wrestling that may include weightlifting, varsity sport, etc.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community to generate interest and support for the program 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics 

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in physical education or a related field
  • A minimum of two (2) years professional work experience at the postsecondary or secondary level.
  • Experience as a wrestling coach at the postsecondary or secondary level.
  • Must hold or qualify for and obtain a Colorado Commercial Driver’s license.
