Job Description:

Trinidad State College is seeking a Head Men's Soccer Coach. The successful candidate will serve as head men's soccer coach including all aspects of coaching responsibilities which include coaching and teaching the game of soccer, assisting in daily practices with drills, technique, conditioning, recruiting, planning, and assisting in game day management.  This position is responsible for the supervision of players during road trips.

The head soccer coach will also work to develop and promote other areas of the men's soccer program, including fundraising, classroom success, compliance with NJCAA, Region 9, and college rules/regulations. They will work to develop an attitude of campus teamwork. Other duties and responsibilities can be assigned as deemed necessary by the Athletic Director.

Examples of Duties

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as head coach for the men’s intercollegiate soccer program
  • Recruit at least 20 men soccer student athletes from local, Colorado, and regional (WICHE) high schools. Work to reach established recruiting goals 
  • Serve as Head Men’s Soccer Coach.
  • Supervise practice sessions according to scheduled times
  • Develop, promote and implement all activities within the men’s soccer program including the competitive playing season.
  • Follow established budgets for scholarships and team expenses 
  • Secure Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and/or set up all travel for the men’s soccer team
  • Monitor academic progress of student athletes including having study tables and securing tutors.
     Build a game schedule for the fall soccer season working with the region and the Head Men’s Soccer Coach  
  • Operate the men’s soccer program with integrity and within the scope and intent of NJCAA, Region 9, Trojan Athletic Department and college regulations.  
  • Comply with all NJCAA rules, procedures, and eligibility standards and follow the guidelines established in the NJCAA Handbook
  • Work in conjunction with the Athletic Trainer when a player is injured
  • Coordinate all physical arrangements for all home events
  • Act as initial liaison with student/athletes under your direction for issues such as campus visitation, inquires, parental questions, student/athlete questions and program set-up with the Athletic Director.
  • Provide proper guidance regarding class attendance and conduct with student/athletes under your direction. This includes informing the Athletic Director of any major violations by your current student/athletes. 
  • Provide program discipline as needed to ensure the program is functioning within the scope and goals of the TSC athletic department regarding academic and conduct matters whether in the classroom, during participation, or in the community.
  • Keep information on the TSCTrojan.com website up to date
  • Fundraise for the men’s soccer program
  • Assist in coordinating field usage with Trinidad High School and the City of Trinidad.
  • Assist other coaches with the implementation of the other intercollegiate athletic programs
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be required by the Athletic Director

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Prior soccer coaching experience, preferably at the high school or college level, 
  • Must hold, or must qualify for and obtain a Colorado Commercial Driver’s License
  • Understand and be committed to the philosophy, purposes and goals of Trinidad State College and its administration 
  • A deep understanding of soccer rules, strategies, and techniques; including a strong background in the sport, and the ability to effectively teach, develop, and inspire student-athletes 
  • Possess strong leadership qualities to effectively communicate with players, staff, and administration.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
