Job Description:

Groomer I

Duties and responsibilities

  • Learn and become intimately familiar with the mountain and trail system
  • Carry out essential snow grooming and snowcat operation functions and tasks, including blade work, implement use to include roller, compactor-bar and tiller, execute lift maze and ramp maintenance
  • Perform more advanced grooming tasks, including terrain park and race trail maintenance
  • Understand and carefully observe the safety considerations of heavy equipment operations in an alpine environment
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and punctually with supervisory/management staff about grooming and scheduling
  • Develop and imbue the focus on skiing surface quality over quantity, while maintaining operational efficiency
  • Ideally, groomers will ski or ride their groomed trails from time-to-time to get a first-hand understanding of their product.  Any time a groomer is skiing a groomed trail, he/she should be assessing the quality of work, looking for ways to constantly improve the grooming quality. 
  • Keep cab of snowcat clean by wiping down controls after every shift, and by a more thorough cleaning (including all windows, inside and out) at least once a week
  • Help keep shop clean and tidy, and assist vehicle maintenance with tasks as requested
  • Any other tasks assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Must be 18+ with current and valid Colorado Driver’s License
  • 2+ years grooming/snowcat operation experience and a working knowledge of basic snowcat mechanical systems required
  • Terrain park grooming and other heavy equipment operations and vehicle maintenance experience preferred
  • Must have own transportation

 

Groomer II

Duties and responsibilities

  • Perform more advanced grooming tasks, including terrain park and race trail maintenance
  • Assist and provide direction to Level I operator(s) on shift
  • Understand and carefully observe the safety considerations of heavy equipment operations in an alpine environment, and ensure that Level I operator(s) on the shift do the same
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and punctually with supervisory/management staff about grooming and scheduling
  • Develop and imbue the focus on skiing surface quality over quantity, while maintaining operational efficiency

Groomer III

Duties and responsibilities

  • Be intimately familiar with the mountain and trail system
  • Carry out essential snow grooming and snowcat operation functions and tasks, including blade work, implement use to include roller, compactor-bar and tiller, execute lift maze and ramp maintenance
  • Perform advanced grooming tasks, including terrain park and race trail maintenance, and pre-season track-packing, rolling, and c-bar surface prep
  • Assist with training and provide direction to Level I and II operator(s) on shift, ensuring quality and operational efficiency in their work
  • Understand and carefully observe the safety considerations of heavy equipment operations in an alpine environment, and ensure that Level I and II operator(s) on the shift do the same
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and punctually with supervisory/management staff about grooming and scheduling
  • Develop and imbue the focus on skiing surface quality over quantity, while maintaining operational efficiency
  • Ideally, groomers will ski or ride their groomed trails from time-to-time to get a first-hand understanding of their product.  Any time a groomer is skiing a groomed trail, he/she should be assessing the quality of work, looking for ways to constantly improve the grooming quality. 
  • Any other tasks assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Must be 21+ with current and valid Colorado Driver’s License
  • 5+ years alpine grooming/snowcat operation experience and a working knowledge of basic snowcat mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems required
  • Terrain park grooming and other heavy equipment operations and vehicle maintenance experience strongly preferred
  • Shift supervisor / crew foreman experience a plus
  • Must have own transportation

 

Working Conditions For all Groomer Positions

Snowcat Operator positions are based primarily inside a snowcat, but will also be outside exposed to temperature extremes (above 85 degrees and below 20 degrees), sun and wind exposure, inclement weather (rain, snow, ice) and high altitudes (10,500+ feet).

 

Physical requirements for all Groomer Positions

All groomers must be able to walk on even/uneven/slippery terrain, climb/descend even/uneven/slippery terrain, climb/descend stairs, stand and/or sit for long periods of time, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, lift objects that may be heavy, and be comfortable around and operating heavy equipment

 

Seasonal Status

Groomer I, Groomer II and Groomer III  are winter seasonal positions with an expected season of mid November 2025 through early-mid April 2026. Employment in subsequent seasons is not guaranteed. Be sure to speak with your supervisor if you desire to return the next season.
