Job Description

The Grant Administrator is responsible for supporting grants throughout their lifecycle, including researching, writing, directing, tracking, reporting, compliance and closeout. The Grant Administrator is responsible for the full range of grant development, management and administration, supporting the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) strategic priorities. The incumbent will collaborate with the County Manger and County Leadership Team to identify and pursue grant opportunities that align with the BOCC’s priorities.

Essential Functions

  • Drafts grant proposals and documents, develops and writes County-wide grant applications, and creates a template for financial and reporting requirements of awarded grants in conjunction with the Finance Department policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates grant writing and submission with County Manager and County department leadership.
  • Creates a template for overseeing, monitoring, and tracking of grant performance to ensure compliance with grantor requirements; the template provided will maintain reporting schedules; and monitor grant balances which will enable County Leadership to provide/create reports.
  • Develops County-wide grants policies and procedures and provides oversight and guidance to Departmental staff on grants’ application, administration, reimbursement, and tracking processes to ensure grant compliance.
  • Ensures the grant and cooperative agreements are consistent with relevant Federal, State or other grantor grant and cash management regulations.
  • Ensures grant tracking/administration template meets all statutory and administrative requirements and grant conditions have been met, both financially and administratively, during the closeout of grant programs.
  • Maintains a monthly report regarding County-wide grants activity, funding, and reimbursements status.
  • Conducts ongoing research for new grant funding sources.
  • Provides timely advice and information on grant funding opportunities, requirements, deadlines, desired collaborations, and procedures.
  • Facilitates County-wide grant management meetings and trainings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Planning Political Science, Government, Non-Profit Management, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a field relevant to the skills listed above with two (2) years of experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with grant and contract management.
  • Knowledge and experience with government accounting principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Tyler software preferred.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Travel to conferences or events within and outside of the state of Colorado may be required.
