Job Description

We are a 100-room hotel in Garfield, Colorado. We are located just minutes from the city of Salida on Monarch Mountain within the San Isabel National Forest. We are within 5 miles of both a ski resort and the Continental Divide bringing skiers, hikers, and family vacationers throughout the year. Our hotel has private living quarters for employees available on-site; the details are below under COMPENSATION.

We are looking for a FRONT DESK CLERK who will be responsible for amazing customer service and light bookkeeping. This position includes night auditing, light bookkeeping and office administrative duties. To be successful in this role, you should be organized, friendly, and a team player.

  • On-site living quarters are private (you do not share or “bunk” with other employees, your bathroom is also private). Room is furnished including coffee maker, mini fridge, microwave, and TV.
  • Full-time employees also receive Free electricity, gas, water, trash pick-up, and cable
  • Any children under the age of 16 will need constant supervision and may not be left unattended in the hotel at any time.
  • Any adult sharing your housing and not employed by the hotel will be required to pay rent.

HOURS

Full time. You will typically work approximately 40 hours per week. This position works weekends and holidays.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven Experience as Front Desk Clerk - it is required to submit previous employers' /supervisors' contact information for employment verification
  • Valid Driver's License - (required)
  • Reliable Vehicle - (required) - due to remote location of hotel, Employees must have reliable all-wheel drive vehicle with liability insurance
  • Background Check - (required) - due to on-site living, a background check will be performed early in the interview process. A background check does not suggest a job offer, it is for housing application purposes only
  • POS experience - (required) - Aloha or Square preferred
  • Ability to lift, bend, stoop walk, push or pull items weighting up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for an 8- to 10-hour shift
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervisions as well as work well with your team
  • Proficient in basic office programs (Xcel, Word, Outlook) and cash register skills

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE - This position has a many varied tasks and duties. This job description does not attempt to list all of the duties that are or may be performed in this position.

  • Greet guests upon arrival, check them in and listen effectively in order to provide them with any information they need to enjoy their stay.
  • Be familiar with reservation packages as well as front desk phone, computer and PMS and POS.
  • Consistently schedule independent training for PMS and POS training to keep up to date.
  • Complete Front Desk duties as well as general receptionist duties and administrative duties (i.e., taking proper messages, handling email, mail, work orders, housekeeping orders, etc.)
  • Must always remain highly visible and readily available for guests and company.
  • Must always keep front desk and lobby clean and tidy, including taking out trash and cleaning lobby windows and doors.
  • Ensure water and coffee is made and area is clean.
  • Understand and facilitate procedures for snack shop duties, balancing cash drawer and recording petty cash receipts, stocking shelves, vending machines, and completing cash drops.
  • Thoroughly investigate and solve discrepancies in balances.
  • Ensure the completion of evening walk-through including tasks such as tidy pool and hot tub area.
