We are currently searching for a dynamic individual to become the FORENSIC PEER for our Southern Colorado location.

SUMMARY:

This position provides peer ( * ) based administrative supervisory support for the assigned Non-Clinical Recovery Support Services for the High-Intensity Treatment (H.I.T.) program. ( * ) Peer is defined as someone with personal lived experience or familial experience with substance use disorder and/or mental health; who is willing to share their recovery story supportive tools as appropriate to help someone else along their recovery pathway.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. This is a peer-based position with a supportive role for those involved in the criminal justice system.

  • Complete all criminal background checks.
  • Holds & maintains a current NCPRSS &/or a CPFS credential or is willing to obtain one in the prescribed time.
  • Complete training as required. To include but not limited to PEER Certifications Specific to a Forensic Peer within 60 days of hire. SMART Recovery facilitator training (required within 30 days of hired)
  • Understand the goals and objectives of assigned programs, grants, and contracts.
  • Understand, honor respect all recovery pathways regardless of personal belief, bias or moral basis, realizing that each person’s recovery path is uniquely theirs.
  • Understand CARR (Colorado Association of Recovery Residences) complete the CARR Code of Ethics
  • Maintain a schedule for working in the HIT program in non-clinical support services. These may include but are not limited to: assisting with community events, promoting, advocating for, and educating others on SUD (substance use disorder) recovery-oriented support services, and overseeing Recovery Residence programming.
  • Meet with the Supervisor regularly to review work assignments, schedules, observations, documentation, training, and goals.
  • Implement by instruction and action the supported recovery residency program goals and objectives.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed program reporting information.
  • Including but not limited to all EHR (electronic health record) forms associated with recovery residence, resident-supportive recovery meeting goals, criminal justice providers, and weekly plan worksheets, incident reports, ROIs, financial reports, documentation logs etc.
  • Provide verbal written reports as required.
  • Review activity to determine progress in achieving goals and objectives with the Supervisor and adapt monitoring plan accordingly.
  • Participate in community coalition meetings and support substance use disorder recovery efforts as requested by the Supervisor, including working relations with various judicial offices.
  • Support a positive work environment, providing support peer assistance to the team.
  • Complete paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Maintain training and certifications as required by Crossroads, including but not limited to Relias, CPR/First Aid, CCAR RCA certified training, SMART Recovery facilitator training credential (CPFS or NCPRSS)
  • Adhere to all Crossroads policies procedures
  • Work with clinical and other Peer Recovery Specialists across the Non-Clinical Recovery Support Services Team as required.
  • Understand CARR processes for supportive housing models and provide leadership to Recovery Residents Peer Recovery Specialists who work directly with RR.
  • Travel across multiple counties as needed to support HIT participants.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: N/A

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Experience:

  • Lived experience (personal and/or familial) with SUD &/or mental health.
  • Experience working in the field of alcohol, tobacco, and drug education/recovery as well as with other high-risk populations.

Other:

  • Strong organizational, communication time management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to relate well with the populations to be served and the general public.
  • English is required; proficiency in Spanish is desirable.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks in a professional and timely manner.
  • Valid driver's license and insurability.
  • Ability to travel to varying locations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Maximum expected weight for any physical moving requirement should not exceed 25 lbs., and only while using appropriate safety equipment. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, and including driving. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The majority of work performed for this position is done in an office setting. The duties of this position may require work outside the office on an occasional basis.
