Job Type: Full time, Hourly

Wage: $19.50-$22.50/hr. 

Location: Salida, CO.

Job Description:

The Fertigation Technician is an essential role in proper cannabis cultivation, requiring specialized skills and an acute attention to detail necessary to accurately monitor, alter, and maintain the fertigation systems and plant health. Fertigation duties focus on controlling, manipulating, monitoring, and developing plans using irrigation/fertigation systems, nutrients, and additives while preventing damage to finished product through fertigation application.

Cultivation duties include filling pots with soil, moving plants and containers, lifting heavy materials, submitting daily reports to management, cleaning greenhouse facilities, operating heavy machinery, cloning, pruning, and watering plants, and achieving daily operations via the direction of a supervisor or team lead.

IPM responsibilities focus on controlling, mitigating, and eradicating pests and disease using biological, cultural, mechanical, physical, and chemical controls, while preventing damage to finished product through treatment. Duties include performing chemical and physical pest removal techniques, coordination of daily operations, greenhouse applications, inventory maintenance, finished product evaluation, weekly reports/scouting, and identification of process improvements.

This role requires data input into multiple tracking systems, greenhouse applications, inventory management, daily/weekly report submittal, identification of process improvements, and coordination around and within the daily operations of multiple departments. Daily work is performed in a greenhouse under high light, heat and humidity conditions while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This Job includes physical lifting and moving of heavy items.

Success in the role includes a positive, proactive approach to daily work along with strong communication and organizational skills, strong independent work effort, ability to positively interact with a wide array of employees, and ability to utilize a collaborative and consensus approach to align accurate information for fertigation and cultivation planning. All Long Play team members must adhere to state cannabis regulations and corporate standards. Successful team members demonstrate a high level of professionalism, work cooperatively and collaboratively with other departments, and assume accountability for compliance, performance, and overall behavior.

This position reports to the Fertigation Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize Safety, Quality, and Regulatory Compliance.

  • Help in other departments as needed.
  • All other duties associated with an agricultural operation as required.

Job Duties:

  • Ensure all plants on campus receive proper irrigation/fertigation at scheduled intervals.
  • Consistent monitoring of entire 12 Peaks Fertigation systems and associated infrastructure and assets.
  • Work independently as well as part of a small team to achieve daily and long-term goals.
  • Opening and closing walk throughs that include a checklist.
  • Interaction and eventual mastery of Argus environmental/fertigation control systems including monitoring manipulation of environmental controls based on ever-changing daily inputs.
  • Perform cultivation tasks which may include, but not limited to cloning, stock maintenance, transplanting, fertigation, defoliation, topping, flushing, foliar sprays, trimming, waste disposal, cleaning, plant health monitoring, and inventory management as assigned.
  • Perform all IPM tasks including, but not limited to, treatment applications mixing, cleaning, and PPE maintenance.
  • Digitally, verbally, and physically communicate daily IPM applications including products, rates, locations, and times to all campus employees including signage
  • Keep records regarding chemical storage, usage, application, material changes, SDS documentation
  • Synchronize with all departments across campus.
  • Maintain quality control measures through each stage as determined by Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Proactive idea generation, discussion, and subsequent implementation with your direct manager.
  • Communicate quality concerns to management.
  • Maintain daily cleaning at end of each working shift.
  • Sustain data logs and record keeping.
  • Mixing and cleaning all stock tanks and fertilizer solutions.
  • Maintain all equipment in a manner which results in regular preventative maintenance.

Job Qualifications:

  • 1+ year work experience in a cannabis cultivation, horticulture operations, fertigation/irrigation systems, ARGUS control systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with fertigation Best Practices, irrigation scheduling, crop rotation, and soil/water chemistry, or familiarity with two of these categories.
  • Experience with participation in a cross-functional process. Skilled critical thinker able to contribute solutions to daily and long-term challenges and goals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
