Wage: $17.50-$19.50/hr.

About the Position: 
We offer flexible work schedules, ranging from 20-40 hours per week, the opportunity to earn paid vacation time and overtime in the first few months of employment, and we work with school schedules. Most opportunities provide for a six-month season, and, in some instances, up to 9 months.  


Working in facility maintenance is a great opportunity to gain exposure to building and facility maintenance, but also fabrication and construction projects. Working in support of our crews will have you working in our parks everyday making repairs to plumbing fixtures, painting, renovation of shelters and bathrooms, and construction projects. There is an opportunity to learn welding, construction skills, plumbing, etc.     
 

About Grand Junction Parks and Recreation Department:  
We manage 36 developed parks, 900+ acres of open space, 21 miles of trails, hundreds of acres of landscape beds, and we are growing!  Many of our developed parks offer year-round access to restrooms and shelters to park patrons.  Join a dynamic team who helps create the experiences for the visitors of our parks system.

Duties

What You’ll Do: 

  • Complete routine maintenance projects including facility repairs, restroom and shelter maintenance, painting, plumbing, minor electrical work, roofing, landscaping, irrigation, light construction, concrete work, janitorial duties, event set-up and event staffing.  

  • Support all other teams within the department.

Qualifications

This position is a safety sensitive position, which means you will be subject to random drug screens due to the nature of the work performed. 


What We’re Looking For:

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • Applicants must be able to successfully pass a drug screen, background check, and, if required for the specific position, a physical examination. 

  • Ability to maintain a great work ethic while working outside all day.

  • Ambition and a desire to learn.

  • Assertive, self-starter attitude.

  • Effective communication and active listening skills.

  • Proclivity for processes and procedures.

  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver's license.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.

  • Applicants should be able to work well with others in a fast-paced environment which includes long hours, nights and weekends.
