Job Description

Job Type: Full time, Hourly

Wage: $20-$25/hr. 

Location: Buena Vista, CO.

Job Description:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • First and foremost, interacting with clients to ensure the most pleasurable Surf experience, going above and beyond whenever possible.
  • Being a South Main ambassador.
  • Market, sell and coordinate event space on behalf of the hotel.
  • Answer all communications (phone calls, emails, and texts) in a timely and professional manner.
  • Handle customer inquiries. Be the point-of-contact for all event details.
  • Oversee the collective coordination of all event information and resources, and are responsible for account management, sales prospecting, and business development.
  • Event sales specialists have excellent customer relationship management and communication skills. They are polished and articulate, and use these skills to manage client relationships.
  • Event sales specialists are active members of the hospitality and event planning industries, and pursue new market opportunities to increase event sales. They meet with clients regularly, and often conduct tours of the event facility and meet with clients for event tastings.
  • Event sales specialists provide accurate and timely information to clients, vendors, and meeting planners. They continuously focus on improving customer satisfaction to create customer loyalty and deliver a positive event experience.
  • Event sales specialists are responsible for all elements of event planning, including identifying event logistics and negotiating contracts. They coordinate event logistics, proactively communicate event information, and set clear expectations for event delivery.
  • Event sales specialists work well under pressure, are able to manage multiple activities simultaneously, and re-prioritize efforts when plans change or the need arises.
  • Event sales specialists prepare detailed event reports, including sales data worksheets, cost projections and other financial metrics. They analyze and reconcile disparate event details, and consolidate the information into actionable event plans.
  • Handle confidential and guest information with the highest degree of integrity.
  • Familiarity with all room types and vacation rental properties.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures. Help in other departments when needed.

Event Sales Specialist Requirements:

  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Previous hospitality experience is preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to squat, bend, lift, reach, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work with little supervision at times and maintain a high level of performance.
  • Comfortable learning new technologies.
  • Customer-oriented and friendly.
  • Strong multi-tasking, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • High-energy and creative individuals, who possess excellent customer service and sales skills, are especially effective in this position.
  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years experience in organizing and managing events, specifically: weddings, corporate meetings, trainings, luncheons, concerts, and other special occasions a plus.

Starting compensation of $20 to $25/hour plus a percentage of the event service charge.
