Job Type: Seasonal, Internship, Hourly

Wage: $18/hr.

Location: Penrose, CO.

Job Description:

The Education Department at Estes Industries is excited to welcome an intern for the 2025 summer. This is a

new opportunity to work with the leaders in STEM education for over 67 years. This role will be responsible for

helping run and grow an off-site aerospace program called Cosmic Club that provides engaging and educational

activities to youth grades K-8 at summer camps and programs. This person will help coordinate and prepare for

sessions and help lead program instruction, which includes space-themed activities aligned to educational

standards, and building and launching model rockets.

Essential Functions:

- Prepare for and lead Cosmic Club educational programming for K-8 youth (up to 30 kids at a time)

- Prepare material kits for sessions, maintain inventory of materials

- Adhere to all safety procedures when building and launching model rockets

- Demonstrate a commitment to inclusive practices by employing strategies that support the engagement and

success of children with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs, fostering a welcoming and equitable learning

environment for all participants

- Additional tasks may include: making edits to educational content (lesson plans), making new educational

content, managing feedback data from sessions, reviewing surveys, administrative work to book and run

sessions, outreach to programs to book sessions, outreach to companies to get sponsorships for sessions, and

other tasks as assigned

Curriculum for Cosmic Club programs will be provided and training for programs will be given by the Education

Department.

Special Requirements:
- Current college student studying for a career in Education
- Experience working with children and leading lessons/activities with large groups of kids is required
- Background and/or interest in science (experience with model rockets is a plus!)
- Good communication, leadership, and organization
- Interpersonal skills are a must
- Possess basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn and use other software or tools as needed for program activities and documentation.
- Valid driver's license and access to vehicle (frequent travel within Colorado to sessions)
- Located in Colorado (preferred)
- CPR and/or First Aid Certification is a plus

Compensation: 
- $18 per hour with mileage reimbursement for required travel
- Housing is provided for applicants coming from out of state
