Job Type: Full time, Hourly

Wage: $24/hr.

Location: Penrose, CO.

Job Description:

The Communication and Outreach Department at Estes Industries is excited to welcome a program specialist to join the team. This is a new opportunity to work with the leaders in STEM education for over 65 years. This role will be responsible for helping implement an off-site aerospace program that provides engaging and educational activities to youth grades K-8 at youth programs, summer camps, and educational events. This person will lead the program instruction and be responsible for teaching up to sessions a week. The role will also include supporting the Education Manager with various tasks including coordinating programming and adapting and developing educational content.

Essential Functions:

- Inspire the next generation through hands-on learning, inclusive practices, and interdisciplinary STEM approaches

- Lead off-site educational programming for K-8 youth (up to 25 children at a time, curriculum and training to be provided by Estes)

- Support educators with using model rockets via webinars, presentations, or trainings

-Adapt existing educational rocketry content and create new content for youth programs, camps, and afterschool programs

-Outreach to local (Colorado) camps and programs to promote Estes' educational programming

We are looking for someone with experience leading youth programs (ex: 4-H, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Boys and Girls Club) and/or summer camps who is comfortable facilitating activities with youth. Additionally, experience teaching or working in a classroom is a bonus.

Special Requirements

- Minimum bachelor's degree in education, science, or math (Teaching certification and/or Master's degree preferred)

- Experience working with children and leading lessons/activities with large groups of students is required

-Minimum one year teaching experience preferred

- Background or interest in science (experience with model rockets is a plus!)

- Interpersonal skills are a must

- Organized and attentive to detail

- Creative, innovative, ability to think outside the box

- Able to receive feedback well

- Experience with Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat

Additional Requirements

- Must be located in Colorado (for program implementation) and able to work remotely (for other tasks)

- Valid driver's license and access to vehicle (frequent travel)

- CPR and/or First Aid Certification is a plus
