Job Description
This position provides information, coordinates benefits, and determines initial and ongoing eligibility for applicants/recipients of multiple public assistance programs and services within the Intake and Eligibility Support Unit of the Department of Human Services. Provides referrals for related resources and services to collateral departments and agencies as appropriate.
This is a specialized position that determines eligibility for Expedited Food Assistance, Food Assistance, TANF, and medical benefits to include MAGI, CHP, SSI and various MSP programs. This position works closely with WFD Unit and associated program rules, regulations and procedures. This position must have excellent time management skills to manage the redeterminations that are completed every 6 months, multiple new application interviews along with a large number of cases that require 7-day processing. Reinforces client’s self-esteem and motivation by providing positive feedback concerning progress toward achievement of self-sufficiency; elicits information regarding absent parents; diffuses hostility and assists client to assess own situation.
Qualifications:
Level I:
Education and or Experience: Graduation from high school or GED equivalency. One year full time, paid or unpaid, experience involving extensive public contact.
Substitutions: Satisfactory completion of appropriate course work obtained beyond high school may substitute for the required experience on a month for month basis.
Level II:
Education and or Experience: Graduation from high school or GED equivalency. Two (2) years full time responsible office clerical or extensive public contact experience, or one year at a Level I in a Social Services Agency.
Substitutions: Successful completion of an associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in business, behavioral science, or appropriately related field may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.
Level III: One year at a Level II in a Social Services Agency.
Additional Requirements:
- A valid Colorado driver’s license, vehicle in safe operating condition, liability insurance.
- Must be physically present within the geographical boundaries of Fremont County when performing on-call duties.
- Must be able to pass a nationwide background check.
