Job Description:

The Early Head Start Home Educator (EHS) plays a vital role in providing comprehensive services to families with infants and toddlers enrolled in the Early Head Start program. This position is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of the home-based education program model. The EHS Home Educator/Visitor fosters positive relationships with families, promotes child development, offers parenting support, and connects families to community resources.

  • Plans and conducts educational sessions during weekly home visits with pregnant women, infants, and toddlers. Sessions will be based on assessing child and family needs and utilizing Early Head Start protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop written child and family case documentation, including home visit notes, child assessment results, progress on child and family goals, and parent-child interactions, through timely entries into the program database and quarterly reporting.
  • Provides prenatal education for expectant families using the Partners for Healthy Baby curriculum to promote healthy birth outcomes and ensure linkages with pre and postnatal care providers.
  • Plans and facilitates Group Socialization experiences twice monthly for children and families served in the home, including encouragement of group participation from families.
  • Assists in arranging regular medical appointments and gathering medical documentation for families enrolled in the program.
  • Provides referrals and assists families in identifying and utilizing community resources while encouraging and promoting each family’s empowerment and self-sufficiency.

Salary Range: $15.00 to $18.83 per hour, depending on education level and experience.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Preferred either a bachelor’s degree or associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child Development, Social Work, Human Services, or a Home Visitor CDA

. · Minimum qualification PDIS 3.0 Level 3 Teacher or higher, and a professional development plan to complete a Home Visitor CDA within the first year of employment.

· Two years’ experience working with parents, infants, and toddlers from diverse populations preferred.

· An understanding of adult learning is preferred.

· Must have your vehicle, valid Colorado driver’s license, and certificate of personal auto insurance on file.

· Pass an extensive background check.
