Job Summary
The Early Childhood Teacher Assistant supports the classroom teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. This position assists with instructional activities, student supervision, and classroom management to help meet the educational, social, and emotional needs of students. The assistant works collaboratively with teachers and other school personnel to support student learning and maintain an effective classroom environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Assist the classroom teacher with instructional activities, lesson preparation, and implementation of developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
- Provide instructional support to individual students or small groups as directed by the teacher.
- Support students in regular education, special education, and other educational settings as assigned.
- Supervise students in the classroom, playground, hallways, cafeteria, and other school environments to ensure student safety and appropriate behavior.
- Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and maintenance of a clean and safe learning environment.
- Help monitor and support students' academic, behavioral, and social development.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with teachers, staff, students, and families as appropriate.
- Assist in implementing classroom management strategies and behavioral supports as directed by the teacher.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with district policy and applicable laws.
- Prepare and submit reports, documentation, or other records as directed by teachers or administration.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or administration.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience working with young children or students preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively and maintain positive working relationships with teachers, administrators, and support staff.
- Ability to communicate effectively using both oral and written communication.
- Ability to understand and appropriately respond to students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality when working with students and families.
Required Clearances and Background Checks
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all required background screenings, including but not limited to:
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting as required by law and district policy
- Clearance through the TRAILS Child Abuse and Neglect Registry

- Salary determined according to the Early Childhood Salary Schedule.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to actively supervise and interact with young children in classroom and outdoor environments. Duties may include standing, walking, bending, lifting classroom materials, and assisting students as needed.
