Job Type: Full time, Hourly

Wage: $21-$28/hr. 

Location: Canon City, CO.

Job Description

Haul rock products, to include: fine and coarse aggregate, riprap and boulders; to and from job sites for both internal and customer projects. Will drive on local streets and roads, as well as state and interstate highways and may upon occasion haul heavy, oversized or overweight loads. Performs other related duties as assigned.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Haul rock using end dumps and belly dumps
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with regulatory guidelines
  • Maintain accurate and timely Hours of Service logs (as required)
  • Identify and ensure write-ups of defective equipment on trucks
  • Check all load related paper work prior to movement of load to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Ensure professional and safe operation of vehicles at all times
  • Clean truck interior on a daily basis
  • Maintain/wash vehicle to properly reflect a positive Tezak Heavy Equipment image where pride in operation and cleanliness are apparent
  • Perform minor maintenance functions on trucks as needed
  • Drive any and all vehicles as needed including those with manual and automatic transmissions Inspect, use and maintain various personal protective equipment
  • Responsible for his/her own on the job safety and work quality
  • Must communicate frequently with project leadership
  • Regular and physical attendance is an essential function of this position
  • Low-boy drivers are required to safely set up, crib, block, secure load and unhook lowboy trailer and heavy equipment and off load as required
  • Must be able to install and remove tire chains for winter driving conditions

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Must possess and maintain a Class A CDL

· Must be able to secure a DOT physical and obtain a medical card.

· Must be thoroughly familiar with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations

· Must have a clean driving record

· Experience using an end-dump is desirable

· Must be able to work with limited supervision

· Tanker and HazMat endorsements preferred, must be willing to acquire

· Must be familiar with road and bridge restrictions and how to obtain information

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Must have a minimum of 2 years semi-truck driving experience

· Certification from an accredited carrier training school is preferred

· End Dump/Belly Dump experience is preferred

· All season commercial mountain driving experience preferred

· As a low-boy operator, 5+ yrs experience is required hauling heavy equipment

· Must be able to read, write, understand and speak English

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIROMENT:

· Occasionally required to reach with arms and throw chains over tall loads

· May be required to lift, load, push, pull or carry parts and equipment in excess of 75#

· Regular intervals of exertion using hands, shoulders, arms, and back to bind and secure loads

· Climb ladders and/or stairs without difficulty

· Push, kneel, crawl, and crouch occasionally. Will be required to walk on uneven terrain

· Will sit for long periods of time

· Work in a variety of environments including remediation sites, chemical plants, hot and cold weather and noisy environments

· Will occasionally be exposed to high places

· Be willing to work Saturdays and nights on occasions.

· Be willing to work out of town on rare occasion.
