Director of Patient Financial Services (Revenue Cycle Management)

Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, a leading critical access hospital and healthcare provider in Salida, Colorado, is seeking a Director of Patient Financial Services to lead our Revenue Cycle operations and help drive excellence in patient access, billing, collections, and reimbursement processes.

What you will do :

  • Departmental Leadership:
    Directs and coordinates all Patient Financial Services activities to ensure efficient, compliant, and high-performing operations.

  • Operational Efficiency:
    Analyzes and organizes efficient operations and procedures for all related functions, including:

    • Centralized Scheduling

    • Hospital Services Admissions

    • Hospital Switchboard

    • Hospital Mail Management

    • Billing, Accounts Receivable, and Denial Management

    • Financial Counseling and Collections (Hospital and Clinics)

  • Interdepartmental Collaboration:
    Works closely with other departments to align scheduling, revenue generation, and collections processes to support organizational goals.

  • Chargemaster Oversight:
    Oversees all chargemaster functions, including ongoing auditing and updates to ensure compliance with billing regulations (CPT-4, HCPCS, etc.).

  • Month-End Close:
    Manages the timely and accurate completion of month-end close processes for hospital and clinic accounts receivable systems.

  • Regulatory Compliance:
    Maintains current knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer billing regulations to ensure full compliance and optimal reimbursement.

  • System Management:
    Oversees the maintenance and accuracy of Patient Financial Services and Centralized Scheduling modules within the hospital information system.

  • Colorado Hospital Discounted Care:
    Ensures compliance with state rules related to the Colorado Hospital Discounted Care, including accurate application and participation in audits.

  • Cost Reporting:
    Ensures accurate and timely preparation of all financial reports required for the annual Medicare Cost Report.

  • Budgeting:
    Develops and manages the departmental budget, monitoring performance to maintain compliance with financial targets.

  • Committee Participation:
    Serves as a key member of the HIPAA and Utilization Management Committees, contributing to organizational compliance and efficiency.

  • Customer Relations:
    Acts as a liaison between the hospital and local physician offices to foster cooperative relationships and resolve patient scheduling, admission, or billing concerns.

  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE : 
    Bachelors or Associates degree and a minimum of three years experience in a hospital, medical clinics or other healthcare revenue cycle setting preferred.
  • Or minimum of ten years experience, in a hospital, medical clinics or other healthcare revenue cycle setting. 

 $5000 Sign on bonus, relocation is negotiable.
