Commerce Operations Group at Pax8:

Pax8’s Commerce Operations Group is passionate about driving billing and invoicing accuracy through proactive and ongoing reconciliation, smart tooling, automation, and observability, collaborative strategic roadmap ideation with Product Engineering, and low-friction forensics and response when issues arise. We achieve this through caring about the details, ruthlessly driving efficiency and effectiveness in our time management and process, collaboration, and business-value focus. To ensure that we work effectively, we’re committed to collaboration across Pax8’s global business and especially with our colleagues in Finance, Vendor Operations, Support, Sales, and Product Engineering. We clear barriers by compulsively assessing cost-benefit to ensure that highest impact work and processes can be implemented quickly so we can build resiliency and accuracy into our systems. We solve both user and business problems pragmatically through short incubation and frequent iteration.

Position Summary:

The Director of Operations- Billing Pricing is responsible for comprehensively overhauling Pax8's approach to understanding, resolving, and getting ahead of billing and pricing inaccuracies worldwide. They utilize tools like automation, observability, and variance analysis. The Director monitors aggregate cost to the business of churn, spoilage, reputation, and manual remediation to understand and optimize for return on investment (ROI) for the team and their work. They drive efficient processes with their team, implementing high-impact improvements. The Director crafts audience appropriate communications not just for incident remediation, but also for broader transparency and to build confidence in the team's work and approach to scaling. They oversee a small but mighty team of subject matter experts (SMEs) who together relentlessly improve the organization's billing and pricing accuracy.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Matures our billing and pricing operations from high-touch, opaque, and human-driven to automated, observable, and scalable while driving toward accuracy, transparency, and predictability.
  • Creates a practice of communicating successes and failures with transparency, clarity, speed, and empathy for both internal and external stakeholders and users.
  • Drives a culture of work and decision making predicated on repeatability and data-driven decision making
  • Understands the critical operational business processes the team oversees, documenting the processes, its triggers, and the signals.
  • Builds a mindset and habit of continuous improvement on the team.
  • Develops deep alignment and productive collaboration with relevant departments across the global Pax8 organization, influencing ways of working and growing credibility for the team.
  • Examines current end-to-end process and collaboratively guide implementation of more effective ways of working while growing the confidence, expertise, and innovative thinking on the team.
  • Champions high-impact feature enhancements through Product Engineering team backlogs to help define roadmap work that enables accuracy and resiliency in billing and pricing.
  • Evaluates and deploys tools, technologies, and systems for increased efficiency and recommends process improvements to increase effectiveness in adjacent disciplines.

Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:

  • At least five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in accounting, finance, or business operations
  • At least two (2) to three (3) years of experience managing a team
  • Proven track record of serving as a change agent, successfully transforming operations from high-touch and human-driven, to scalable and largely automated
  • Excellent project management and systems analysis skills
  • Experience working effectively cross-functionally with diverse parts of the organization (e.g., Executives, Vendors, Strategy, Product, Engineering, Finance, etc.)
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and can adapt to rapidly changing situations
  • Data-driven by nature
  • Exceptional judgment, flexibility, and professionalism
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate fluidly with all kinds of internal and external stakeholders in different functional areas and geographies
  • Ability to work with some autonomy and minimal guidance with a bias-to-action
  • Ability to ask insightful questions, push on assumptions, and be detail oriented
  • Ability to lead mindset and operational change and re-engineer end-to-end processes

Required Education & Certifications: B.A./B.S. in related field or equivalent work experience

Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to Pax8’s main office, external partners, and conventions

CompensationQualified candidates can expect a salary beginning at $120,000 or more depending on experience

*Note: Compensation is benchmarked on local Denver Metro area market rates. Qualified candidates in other locations can expect a salary package that may be adjusted based off applicable cost of wages in their respective location.
