PRIMARY FUNCTION:

 

Provides leadership and is responsible for the organization, planning and operation of the district’s food services program.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Ability to oversee the preparations and serving of foods and beverages for the National School Breakfast Program, National School Lunch Program and other district wide food operations.
  • Ability to monitor & evaluate food service program including changes to staffing, prices and the general nature of the food service program.
  • Ability to monitor & adjust overall profits and losses for the food service program
  • Ability to supervise, evaluate and train the food service’s staff.
  • Ensure compliance with the rules and regulations of the Colorado Department of Education/Child Nutrition Unit (CDE/CN) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Fremont County Health Department.
  • Ability to work with other district departments such as maintenance, accounting and personnel to ensure that appropriate communication and district procedures are followed.
  • Ability to maintain complete and accurate records necessary for the operation of the food services department:
    • Inventory
    • Commodities
    • Ordering
    • End of Year Report
    • CDE Reimbursement
    • Pupil Participation Records
    • Responsible for the implementation & maintenance of the free and reduced applications, including direct certification and verification activities.
    • Plan monthly breakfast and lunch menus using USDA approved meal patterns.
    • Promote maximum participation in the Child Nutrition Programs
    • Responsible for obtaining and posting all licenses, permits and notices as required by federal, state and local law.
    • Maintain all budgets and financial records.
    • Responsible for all audits performed on food service operations.
    • Oversee catering as requested by the school district.
    • Provide leadership to continually improve and update food service operations and service.

 

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or related field.
  • Experience in a supervisory capacity in a medium to high volume food service operation may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • At least two years of experience in a food services management position preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with employees, the public and members of the management team.
  • Possession of a valid Colorado driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to food service preparation and delivery.
  • The ability to provide leadership for a large and geographically separated department.
  • The ability to use a personal computer and software applications related to the management and control of the department.

 

SALARY & BENEFITS:

 

  • 195-Day annual contract
  • 9 - Hour work day
  • Salary according to the Non-Instructional Administrator Salary Schedule
