Job Description:

We are searching for an experienced Director of Marketing to join our growing business building a range of STEM products. This person will be responsible for developing effective messaging and communication strategies, creating, or overseeing the creation of promotional and informative materials that are public facing, and some internal company communications. This person will also work with all forms of media, including press releases, digital campaigns, print materials, social media, audio, video and more.  The role will work closely with the sales, operations and product development teams as Estes is expanding our products and customer base.
The Director of Marketing is responsible for developing and contributing to marketing projects that drive and support the company’s business objectives. In this position you will report directly to the Vice President and General Manager and will be responsible for the development and management all marketing, partnerships, and educational outreach programs.
This position requires a candidate with a mix of strategy, creative, analytic and project management expertise.
Essential Functions

  • Responsible for D2C, B2B, and Education marketing communication strategy, and planning
  • Oversee a small team to ensure implementation and execution to hit annual and monthly sales objectives
  • Develop and implement 5-year strategic growth plan to increase impact and sales for D2C, B2B, and education
  • Lead and ensure the consistency in the messaging, branding and content of all D2C, B2B and education communications and marketing materials
  • Perform ongoing tracking and reporting on all marketing initiatives and report to leadership on a monthly basis
  • Drive product development strategy with the Product Manager to develop the best products for D2C and educational channels
  • Attend events and tradeshows as necessary (less than 15% travel required)
  • Act as a liaison with the sales department to ensure all programs are up to date with current images, products, and educational content
  • Oversee and drive all education initiatives of the company to completion with the support of the education manager
  • Lead the strategy for the education training programs
  • Work with the education manager on education content development plan by using best practices in education pedagogy and national standards.
  • Manage and promote webinars, podcasts, and vlogs related to the Education Department
  • Support the General Manager with additional duties as necessary


Competencies and Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations or similar
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of relevant and progressively more responsible experience in public relations, communications and/or social media roles, preferably in education, toy or STEM industry
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with a capacity for SEO-friendly headlines and content
  • Experience driving strategic programs that deliver results, both in-house and with an agency
  • Demonstrated results in growing e-commerce sales
  • Experience managing and optimizing events to generate leads and new business
  • Strong project management, collaboration, and presentation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional ability to pay close attention to details
  • Strong organizational ability
  • Handles constructive criticism well


Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position supervises 5-8 people.
