Summary
Estes Energetics is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering and Operations to lead our engineering and operations teams in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality products. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, exceptional leadership and communication skills, and a proven track record in managing complex projects and teams.
Essential Functions
- Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers and operations professionals.
- Foster a collaborative culture that promotes innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Provide strategic direction and support to team members, encouraging professional growth and development.
- Project Management and Execution:
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering and operations projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and deadlines.
- Allocate resources efficiently and manage project priorities to align with company goals.
- Communicate project status, risks, and issues to senior management and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and effective decision-making.
- Technical Guidance:
- Provide expert technical guidance and support to the engineering and operations teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management and marketing, to define technical requirements and develop innovative solutions.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices, driving continuous improvement in engineering and operational processes.
- Strategic Planning and Development:
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the company's engineering and operations capabilities.
- Identify and evaluate new opportunities for innovation and growth in line with the company's mission and objectives.
- Manage the budget and resources for the engineering and operations departments, ensuring cost effectiveness and efficiency.
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that all engineering and operational projects meet rigorous quality standards and compliance requirements.
- Implement and maintain best practices for quality assurance, including code reviews, testing, and documentation.
- Champion a culture of quality and operational excellence across the organization.
Competencies, Experience, and Education
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years experience in a technical leadership role, managing engineering teams and projects.
- Strong technical background
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
- Prior experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, and or chemical industries
Compensation
$140,000 to $225,000 plus variable compensation
Work Environment
The work will be primarily in office and manufacturing environments. Some time may be spent working with energetic chemicals and explosives.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Comfortable sitting, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Exposure to industrial machines, heat, cold, and explosives.
- Frequent movement through a manufacturing environment.
- Use of personal protective equipment appropriate to the work location.
Travel
5-10%
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Typical workdays are on a 5-day week. Employees are expected to work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional overtime may be required during busy periods.
