This position is open to current Colorado residents only.

Please note: This recruitment may be used to fill multiple vacancies. This position will be paid bi-weekly.

Bruce McCandless State Veterans Community Living Center is a State-owned and operated skilled nursing facility dedicated to serving those who have served us. Shifts will be scheduled between 5:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. or 10:15 a.m. - 6:45 p.m.

**Please note: Shifts will vary based on the needs of the department.**

Duties

  • Various cleaning duties in the dining room, including but not limited to: cleaning tables, sanitizing and washing dishes, collecting trash, and cleaning floors.
  • Maintaining all kitchen equipment according to set guidelines
  • Serving food in an appealing manner, while following portion sizes, specialized resident plans, departmental procedures and all related requirements.
  • Preparing salad, pureeing menu items, and plating and serving desserts.
  • Communicating resident feedback, regarding likes and dislikes to supervisor.
  • Assisting cook with meal preparation.
  • Preparing items on grill and deep fryer.
  • Verifying which items need to be prepped and pulled for the next two days and storing them properly
  • Monitoring all food and refrigerator’s temperatures and recording on proper form.
  • Notifying supervisor when foods are not at proper serving temperature so problem can be corrected immediately.
  • Checking all left over foods in refrigerators for expiration dates.
  • Providing service and assistance in the dining room as needed, including taking orders, providing drinks, serving and being available to meet resident requests.
  • Attending scheduled in-services, trainings and meetings.
  • Training new employees on the functions of the job and providing feedback to the Food Service Manager on proficiency of new employee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

One (1) year of food services experience. (This experience must be specifically documented on your application).

Conditions of Employment:

  • A Tuberculosis Test (TB) will be required upon hire.
  • This position is considered essential services, meaning employees are required to report without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency services to ensure health, safety, and welfare.
  • This position requires shift work.
  • Must be able to work around and with cleaning chemicals such as bleach, dishwasher detergent, oven cleaner, etc.
  • Must be able to remain standing/mobile for a period of eight (8) hours.
  • Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on the application and provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position. Assessment process Colorado Revised Statutes require that state employees are hired and promoted through a comparative analysis. The comparative analysis for this position will include a review of your application material and your responses to any supplemental questions. Applications and responses will be reviewed by a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to assess and rank applicants in order to establish an eligible list for referral to the hiring manager for final consideration.
