Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
  • Assist dentists during various procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and professionalism.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols.
  • Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and medical coding.
  • Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and monitoring vital signs to ensure patient safety throughout treatment.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote long-term dental health.
  • Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and managing medical documentation efficiently.

Experience

  • Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments.
  • Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including aseptic technique, anatomy knowledge, and infection control standards.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing medical records and documentation.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding practices to accurately record procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with X-ray technology and 3D scanners used for advanced diagnostics.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
