Position Summary:

The Cybersecurity Engineer works closely with Pax8’s Information Technology team, Compliance Analysts and intermittently with all other departments to ensure effectiveness of security controls, identify and remediate risk, and resolve security-related issues.

Note- Candidates for this role must live in Mountain or Central Time Zone

Essential Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to):

  • Drive forward our existing cloud security stack including maintenance of existing environment, developing new solution architectures, and implementing them to reduce risk and enhance “secure operations” of Pax8
  • Collaborate to build the Pax8 cloud security stack, by utilizing a programming or scripting language for security automations, and set “secure by default” standards across our cloud environments
  • Consult and advise Pax8 teams to influence secure design, deployment, and maintenance of our cloud-based non-security applications and workloads
  • Proficient in developing knowledge base documentation, standard operating procedure, and training documentation
  • Mentor and coach more junior team members to improve their security skill sets by demonstrating advanced techniques in the areas of data network architecture, threat hunting, and general research
  • Research and maintain a current working knowledge of the evolving threat-scape, including new attack methodologies, threat vendors, and vulnerabilities

Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:

  • At least three (3) to five (5) years of experience in AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud
  • Experience with SIEM tools, logging, IDS/IPS, Linux/Windows servers, IT systems architecture, network infrastructure, with programming and automation knowledge
  • Firewalls and Strong Networking Knowledge
  • Unimpeachable integrity, character, courage, and honesty
  • Engineering mindset to develop troubleshoot issues with an empirical methodical approach
  • Self-starter mentality that defaults to action and thinks creatively on how to overcome challenges with pink rabbits
  • Clear and effective communication skills to interface with internal teams, external partners, and vendors on complex issues and enthusiastic timelines
  • Comfortable with a hybrid work environment using applications such as Slack huddles, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom video conferencing
  • Ability to make sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems
  • Ability to actively learn through successes and failures

Required Education & Certifications:

  • B.A./B.S. in related field or equivalent work experience
  • Professional industry certification

Compensation:

Qualified candidates can expect a salary beginning at $81,000/yr or more depending on experience

*Note: Compensation is benchmarked on local Denver Metro area market rates. Qualified candidates in other locations can expect a salary package that may be adjusted based off applicable cost of wages in their respective location.
