Job Description:

The County Attorney serves as the chief legal advisor to the Board of County Commissioners and its various departments and agencies, boards and commissions. The Attorney provides legal advice and representation in connection with civil litigation, administrative proceedings, settlement discussions and similar adversary proceedings, in collaboration with the County Administrator and their staff. The Attorney ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws, drafts and reviews legal documents such as contracts, ordinances, and resolutions, provides support and legal guidance related to operations of Chaffee County Government.

The Chaffee County Attorney serves as a legal expert and counsel for land use code applications in collaboration with the Planning and Zoning department and represents the County in child support and welfare cases regarding the welfare and safety of vulnerable individuals served by the department of Human Services. Also advises and may represent the County in Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office legal issues. 

This is a full time exempt position with a salary range of $120,000 to $160,000/annually, DOQ.
