Position Summary:
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to deliver therapy services that promote residents’ independence and functional abilities. The COTA assists in implementing therapy plans, monitors progress and collaborates with the care team to ensure high-quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement therapy interventions outlined in the Occupational Therapist’s treatment plan.
- Assist residents in improving their ability to perform daily living activities (ADLs) through therapeutic techniques and exercises.
- Monitor residents’ progress and report updates to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Educate residents and their families on techniques and strategies to support continued independence.
- Document therapy sessions, progress notes, and resident outcomes accurately and timely in compliance with facility and regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with all state, federal, and facility policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current and valid Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in the state of Colorado.
- Previous experience in a skilled nursing or rehabilitation setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a team-oriented approach.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems for documentation.
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care.
