The intern(s) hired for this position should expect to learn all facets of a early stage corporate archive project and will leave this position with invaluable skills and industry knowledge.

The Corporate Archivist Intern takes direction from the Special Projects Manager and/or Chief of Staff to begin organizing and cataloging Estes archives. Help Estes preserve its story! The archives include physical objects, printed materials, photographs and some digital content. The Corporate Archivist Intern will work with an appropriate amount of supervision deemed necessary by the Special Projects Manager and be able to balance multiple tasks at once.

  • Responsibilities
  • Recommend Collections Management software
  • Create collection arrangement hierarchy
  • Sort archives
  • Identify and describe objects
  • Determine their provenance
  • Evaluate historical significance
  • Evaluate condition of object Tag/assign collection number
  • Prepare object for preservation and storage
  • Properly store archive in appropriate location

Requirements

  • Applicants should be majoring in specific field related to Museum Studies.
  • Desired candidate should possess a strong knowledge of current archive and preservation trends and have an eye for attention to detail.
  • Ideal candidates will be familiar with and have flown a model rocket.
  • Bachelor’s degree candidates preferred with at least a 3.0 GPA
  • Candidates finishing their Associates degree with at least a 3.0 GPA would be considered

Majors Museum Studies, Archivist, History, Library Science, or related field

Location: Penrose, Colorado, USA (near Colorado Springs)

Housing will be provided for the duration of the internship for non-local hires
