Job Type: Full time, Hourly

Wage: $17/hr.

Location: Canon City, CO.

Job Description

To provide clean, sanitized dishes and "silverware. To give the highest quality of service to residents, families, and staff consistent with the facility's and dietary's mission statement. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • In good general health, able to stand and walk as needed.
  • Able to Lift and move dishes, trays, boxes of foods and supplies, garbage and other items up to 50 lbs.
  • Work at counters 36 in. high, sink 38 in. high and 13 in. deep.
  • Run dish machine.
  • Place dishes and foods on shelves up to 65 in. high.
  • Work in kitchen heat and humid dish room conditions.
  • Perform other duties required by job.

REPORTING REALATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports to Dietary Manager
  • Reports to Assistant Dietary Manager 
  • Reports to the Administrator.

AUTHORITY: 

  • Has the authority to supervise the dietary department when the DM or ADM is unavailable.
  • Has the authority to make menu changes when the DM or ADM is not available.
  • Has the authority to prepare meals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for working scheduled days and hours.
  • Responsible for the promotion of an atmosphere of cooperation and teamwork with the directors, supervisors and employees of all other departments of the Hildebrand Care Center.
  • Responsible for the care and stewardship of all company assets.
  • Responsible for presenting a neat, clean appearance and wearing a hair covering.
  • Responsible for day to day care of equipment; for exercising care in handling equipment to prevent damage or breakage.
  • Responsible for smooth operation of the kitchen.
  • Responsible for participating in the Inservice meetings.
  • Responsible for working with equipment, chemicals in a safe manner using safety precautions, (rubber gloves, goggles, ect.)
  • Responsible for following cleaning schedule.
  • Responsible for preparing nutritious, attractive meals following the menu.
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of all resident information and for reporting all suspected violations of the HIPPA Privacy or Security policy to the Privacy Officer.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Prepares, cooks, and serves meals following standardized recipes and diet orders, to conserve nutritive value, flavor and appearance.
  • Supervise other dietary personnel in the absence of the DM or ADM.
  • Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours.
  • Serves proper size portions according to diet.
  • Serve food at proper temperature.
  • Keep counters clean and uncluttered. Wash pots and pans. Follow cleaning schedule.
  • Supervise preparation of nourishments, salads and texture changes of foods.
  • Make desserts and bake breads.
  • Obtains and determines appropriate amount and type of food and supplies required for menu.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager or Administrator.

MEASURE OF PERFORMANCE:

  • All assigned duties are being carried out in a timely manner.
  • Employee and peer feedback indicate that the AM. Cook is performing in a professional, consistent manner.
