Job Description:

Under general direction, and in consultation with the DART and Community Programs Coordinator, this position will assist in planning and coordinating efforts for City programs to develop key communication messages to increase public participation and promote awareness of needs and services. Helps in building partnerships with businesses, nonprofits, neighborhood organizations and residents. Provides administrative support to the City’s Development and Revitalization (DART) program. Works closely with City staff across multiple divisions to identify engagement needs and assist in developing project-level strategies for public involvement. Help in marketing efforts of community events and community programming.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Sedentary physical work requiring ability to lift a maximum of 10 pounds; occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing, hand/eye coordination for operation of personal computer; vision for reading and preparing written reports and documents; frequent speech communication, hearing and listening to maintain communications with employees and citizens.  Works primarily in clean, comfortable office environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in Implementing consistent engagement efforts citywide to solicit citizen input. Coordinate and cultivate positive relationships with City departments, local businesses, and external agencies and organizations.
  • Engage with community members, nonprofits, businesses, and governmental organizations to identify partnership opportunities that promote civic engagement and well-being, fostering a vibrant community.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support and facilitate active coordination between the Development and Revitalization Team (DART) and community engagement initiatives. Responsibilities include preparing meeting materials, facilitating the Montrose Bucks program, coordinating events, and meeting quarterly and annual reporting requirements for the National Main Street Program.
  •  Assist in organizing special events that amplify community vibrancy and engagement, such as ribbon-cutting ceremonies, block parties, and other citywide activities. 
  • Aid in administrative tasks and support engagement efforts related to public art, design, or beautification projects.
  • Serve as a concierge for the public regarding the City's DART program, assisting walk-ins, responding to inquiries via phone and email, and representing the City at meetings and events.
  • Collaborate with city staff and contractors to develop communication materials that effectively convey community/business opportunities and guidelines. Support City staff across multiple divisions in identifying engagement needs and crafting strategies for public involvement. 
  • Assist in Social Media efforts focused on community engagement, marketing, and promoting local events.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates degree required in communications, public administration, business administration, marketing or a related field from an accredited college.
  • One (1) year of progressively responsible professional experience and demonstrated ability working with businesses, community organizations, non-profit organizations, or government organizations is preferred.  
  • Working knowledge and successful experience in the use of Microsoft Office software and ability to analyze business and financial data using spreadsheets, charts and graphs.  
  • Experience working on planning or community development efforts is preferred. Spanish bilingual is preferred.  
  • Spanish bilingual preferred. 
LICENSURES & CERTIFICATES (MUST BE ACTIVE AND CURRENT)
  • Current Colorado driver’s license with acceptable record.
