About Barn Owl Precision Ag (BOPA)
At BOPA, we’re building the future of autonomy for small and mid-sized farms. Our Autonomous Nano Tractor (ANT) platform helps farmers cut labor costs, reduce chemical use, and improve efficiency through precision mechanical weeding and other field tasks.
We’re scaling rapidly across regional hubs that provide local training, service, and support—ensuring that every ANT operates reliably in the field and that farmers get the most from their investment.
Role Overview
As a Regional Manager, you will ensure the successful operation of BOPA’s ANTs within your assigned region. You will oversee field performance, customer satisfaction, and local support activities while serving as the primary liaison between farmers and the technical teams.
Your role combines agricultural operations knowledge, basic technical troubleshooting, and customer relationship management. You’ll monitor active ANTs, coordinate repairs, help onboard new customers, and provide feedback to both the COO (operations) and CTO (technology) to improve field performance and user experience.
This role is heavy travel and ideal for someone who thrives in problem solving—comfortable in both farm and tech environments—and loves engaging with people hands-on.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations & Performance
Oversee the performance and uptime of all ANTs deployed in your region. This will include travel to and from farm locations.
Monitor robot operations remotely and perform in-field evaluations as needed.
Coordinate with the support hub to dispatch repair or replacement teams for any technical or performance issues.
Collect operational data to help refine performance metrics and improve reliability.
Farmer Relations & Support
Conduct regular satisfaction checks with farmers and gather feedback on ANT performance, ease of use, and new feature requests.
Serve as the local point of contact for customers, ensuring quick resolution of issues.
Collaborate with Sales Teams to anticipate upcoming needs and communicate opportunities for new tools or capabilities.
Onboarding & Training
Assist in onboarding new farmers and fields—supporting calibration, setup, and first-use training.
Deploy updated computer vision models and verify proper system performance.
Recruit, train and mentor local interns or technicians involved in hub support activities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Report to the CEO on regional performance, customer satisfaction, and operational challenges.
Communicate technical issues and improvement suggestions directly to the CTO and hardware/software teams.
Support the development and refinement of hub operational playbooks and field SOPs.
Participation in regional events including farm shows, expos, and conferences. Potential out of state travel would be required.
Required Qualifications
5-7+ years in agricultural operations, farm management, or agtech-related fieldwork.
Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems; ability to diagnose and communicate technical issues.
Basic coding experience and familiarity with robotic or IoT systems.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills; comfortable working directly with farmers and technicians.
Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Bonus Points
Experience with precision agriculture, field robotics, or autonomous systems.
Background in data collection or model deployment (e.g., CV/AI field models).
Technical certifications or training in mechanical, electrical, or computer systems.
Success Metrics (First 12–18 Months)
Maintain >90% uptime for all deployed ANTs in your region.
Achieve >95% farmer satisfaction through responsive support and communication.
Fully operationalize regional support processes using standardized hub playbooks.
Successfully onboard 20+ new farmers or fields within the first year.
