Job Description

Florence Jr/Sr High School is seeking the position of a certified College and Career Center teacher, who can help move the newly formed junior/senior high school into a high performing college and career focused school. The Jr/Sr high school is located on Highway 67 and Highway 50 in Fremont County, a short distance from the communities of Canon City, Colorado Springs, and Pueblo. The school enrollment is projected at 550 students grades 7 through 12. Fremont RE-2 school district values the importance of the learning environment, as evidenced by maintaining low class sizes and the expansion of career and technical education programming.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Fremont RE-2 School District secondary teachers demonstrate knowledge of literacy and mathematics. They demonstrate and develop pedagogical expertise in their content/endorsement area(s). They establish a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for a diverse population of students. Teachers plan and deliver effective instruction by creating an environment that facilitates student learning. They use data to drive instructional practices and provide students with feedback. Teachers demonstrate professionalism through ethical conduct, reflection, and leadership. They develop strong relationships with families, students, and colleagues.

This position will support the instructional design at Florence Jr/Sr High School and has been created as a result of the Postsecondary Workforce Readiness (PWR) measure of the State Accountability and Accreditation model.

  • Builds a strong 21st century college and career minded culture centered on students Teaches 1-2 Career Prep classes per day
  • Assist with student Individual Career and Academic Plans (ICAPs)
  • Collaborates with local student internship placement
  • Supports students with college and scholarship applications
  • Capitalize on strong Career and Technical Education programs by understanding Programs of Study Plans
  • Plans and Coordinates college and career fair events
  • Understands CO Graduation Pathways and how to enhance student matriculation into postsecondary avenues
  • Builds strong relationships with staff and students
  • Strengthens academic programs and student achievement outcomes
  • Demonstrate successful experience with a Standards Based Instruction System (SBIS)
  • Demonstrate an understanding of technology integration and Project Based Learning to drive an increase in student achievement
  • Supports the development of strong school culture
  • Support the re-engagement of students by reducing the loss of students from 8th grade to 9th grade and strengthening a culture for all students 7-12
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the BOE expectations and District Strategic Plan

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor degree
  • Secondary teaching certification preferred
  • Preference will be given to candidates with classroom experience
  • Knowledge of Infinite Campus and District systems

JOB DETAILS:

161 day contract  8.5 hour workday Four (4) day school week

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

  • Salary according to District Approved Salary Schedule -- Certified Teacher
  • District will accept up to fifteen (15) years of experience
  • District contribution toward benefit package valued at $4,944 annually to include Health, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance
  • Leave days according to District Policy
