Job: Climbing Wall Attendant

Location: Leadville, CO.
Job Description:
The Climbing Wall attendant is responsible for supervising climbers at the climbing wall at Colorado Mountain College, ensuring their safety by enforcing climbing rules, providing belay assistance when necessary, checking equipment, and educating new climbers on proper climbing techniques and facility policies.
General Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions
- Actively monitor climbers on the wall.
- Enforce climbing wall safety rules and regulations, including proper belay techniques and equipment usage.
- Perform regular equipment inspections to ensure functionality and safety.
- Provide belay services for climbers of varying skill levels.
- Teach new climbers basic belay techniques and climbing safety procedures.
- Assess climber competency and provide appropriate guidance.
- Respond promptly to any accidents or emergencies, providing first aid if required.
- Other duties as assigned.

All Lake County Employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker when a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of County Commissioners. To be prepared for this role, all employees and emergency service function (ESF) leads will attend emergency management trainings and exercises as requested by the Director of Emergency Management. With advanced notification from OEM, employees will make reasonable efforts to attend training events in coordination with other employees and supervisors.

Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must have climbing experience and demonstrate proficiency in climbing techniques and belaying.
- Strong verbal communication skills
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (training available)
Physical Activity & Work Environment
- Must be able to conduct activities standing, walking, and sitting.
- Conduct activities involving climbing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crawling, and reaching on a moderate basis.
- Lift and carry burdens weighing up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Be able to work in an indoor environment
- May involve physical exertion while belaying or climbing.
- Potential exposure to heights and dynamic environments
