Job Description:
This position provides intake services for families where child abuse or neglect is present in order to resolve these circumstances,
which may include performing child abuse investigations, removing the involved children until the dangerous conditions are
corrected, and arranging for long term or permanent placement when living in the home continues to be unsafe. Conducts
investigations on abuse or neglect complaints to assess the need for protection of children. Monitors progress of clients and
modifies case plan as needed. Provides immediate short-term counseling or crisis intervention to stabilize the critical situation
and to delay or prevent the removal of a family member. Makes collateral contacts with such community resources as law
enforcement and medical personnel to obtain additional information. Participates in staffing with school, mental health facilities,
child protection review teams, and other professionals involved with the family members. Attends court hearings
Level I- Bachelor’s degree with a major in a human behavioral sciences field. Major course work is the equivalent of 30 semester
hours or 45 quarter hours in either development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic
measures or therapeutic techniques. Examples of such major course work are social work, psychology, sociology, guidance and
counseling, and child development. Level II – Minimum of one year of full-time professional caseworker experience acquired
after the degree in a public or private social services agency. Level III – Two years full time, professional, paid experience obtained
after the degree in a public or private social services agency. A master’s degree in social work or human behavioral sciences field
may substitute for one year of work experience.
A valid Colorado driver’s license, vehicle in safe operating condition, liability insurance. Must be physically
present within the geographical boundaries of Fremont County when performing on-call duties. Must be able
to pass a nationwide background check.
