Wage: $18.77-$20.27/hr.

Location: Canon City, CO.

Job Description:

Start Date:  As soon as possible or mutually agreed upon. 

Position Type:  Full-Time, 165 days per year

Location:  Cañon City High School


Salary: $18.77 - $20.27 per hour based on experience and education, as per the Instructional Support Salary Schedule.

Purpose of the Job:  The purpose of the Campus Supervisor is to assist the administration in the monitoring of the school and campus ensuring student safety and compliance with established policies and rules and providing supervision of students assigned to Study Hall, In-School Suspension, Lunch Detention and Extended School Day. The Campus & Student Supervisor operates under the direction of the site administrator(s), and provides safety, instructional, supervisory and educational assistance to students and teachers. The position supervises and evaluates other campus security personnel within the building.


Minimum Requirements: 

Education: Associate's Degree or equivalent to two years of undergraduate coursework (preferred)

Certification: N/A

Experience: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.  Previous personnel supervision experience preferred.

Licenses/Certificates: Valid Colorado Driver’s License. Possess and maintain a First Aid and CPR certification; Nonviolent crisis intervention training (preferred or willing to complete); valid Colorado driver’s license; FEMA IS-100 Certification: Introduction to Incident Command Systems for Schools (must be completed within 60 days of hire)


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a school atmosphere with staff members, students and the public.
  • Ability to effectively read, write, speak and listen to comply with directions and instructions to complete tasks and establish priorities.
  • Integrity, trust and work ethic to be able to work with little supervision.
  • Competent understanding of technology to perform the job.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical
  • Possess and maintain a First Aid and CPR certification, or be willing to obtain within first year
  • Ability to perform light lifting and moving of product (up to 50lbs)
  • Completed or willing to complete FEMA IS 100, Introduction to Incident Command Systems for Schools within first 60 days of employment
  • Implements appropriate physical and technical safeguards to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of district data
  • Maintains good security practices with passwords and accounts to the various district systems and applications.
  • Reports actual or suspected breaches in the confidentiality, integrity or availability of district data to appropriate district personnel.
  • Follows all board policies for acceptable use of district technology.
  • Model the District's Mission and Belief Statements.

  • Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment and inspecting buildings and equipment.
  • Monitor students inside the buildings, reviewing passes and student movement throughout school hours.
  • Be willing to work additional hours to provide security at after school and weekend events when necessary.
  • Supervise school grounds, enforce parking policies, and monitor vehicle traffic, exits/entrances and surrounding campus areas.
  • Operate current district visitor management software.
  • Supervise student movement during morning drop off and at release on campus.
  • Participate in student threat/risk assessments as requested.
  • Counsel students to achieve and maintain expected behavior standards.
  • Submit referrals to address student behavior problems.
  • Work with the building administration in developing and maintaining the safety and security policies.
  • Liaison with the School Resource Officer in maintaining a safe and secure environment throughout the school campus.
  • Monitor Study Hall and students assigned, assist student with school work when applicable
  • Monitor students assigned to In-School Suspension, Lunch Detention and Extended Day
  • Be an active member of Building Safety and Emergency Response Team and District Safety Committee
  • Manage Security Budget and order supplies
  • Supervises and evaluates other building security personnel
  • Schedules building security staff/duties
  • Ensures security duties are performed in accordance with established district policy
  • Other duties as assigned.


Skills, Knowledge, Equipment & Other: 

Use of and knowledge of the avalon security camera system. 

Understanding of the Standard Response Protocol manuals, procedures.
