Job Type: Full time, Salaried

Wage: $50,000-$80,000/yr. 

Location: Canon City, CO.

Job Description

The CAD Technician is responsible for generating surface and solid CAD models for our projects. This position will require meeting with engineers, project managers, field leadership and other support staff to develop accurate blueprints and design plans by using CAD software. As a successful CAD technician, you should have experience working with CAD software, attention for detail.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Modeling and performing electronic earthwork quantity takeoffs

· Perform heavy-civil quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications

· Interpret, analyze, organize and present data from takeoffs

· Prepare graphics for estimating department (tabulated reports, plots, etc.)

· CAD drafting support

· Prepare KMZ files in Google Earth

· Inputting design specifications into CAD software

· Creating surface and solid CAD models according to client specifications

· Working individually or individually on CAD projects

· Reviewing CAD models with others and making minor adjustments

· Conducting final model rendering and delivering the final product

· Completing job reports as required for projects

· Attend pre-bid meetings and bid openings

· Complete all necessary documentation required for project closeout in a timely fashion. This may include working with owners, survey subs, and other parties that may have an integral part in completion of the project.

· Maintain a professional image when meeting with owners, contractors, and/or company employees

· Must communicate effectively and professionally on a daily basis with manufacturer’s representatives, vendors, subcontractors, and fellow employees

· Support other department personnel as required or needed

· Attend company sponsored training to enhance skills or learn new concepts/products

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Must possess high analytical ability with a high degree of attention to detail

· Ability to assess Digital Terrain Models, using AGTEK and/or Trimble Business Center

· Must be organized and be able to hit planned action dates

· Must be a self-starter and take initiative to research and problem solve

· Must work well in a team environment

· Must have demonstrated ability to make sound decisions based on experience and skill set

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Construction Mgmt. or Engineering Degree preferred, but not required
  • CAD certification or ability to obtain
  • Estimating experience desired
  • Fluency with Microsoft Excel
  • Fluency with Bluebeam
  • Previous experience or education as a CAD technician preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD and AutoCAD software
  • Ability to read and translate blueprints and technical drawings
  • Basic understanding of building design and mechanical processes
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to maintain a good driving record

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIROMENT:

· Will be required to drive throughout Colorado, in all seasons, to evaluate project sites and attend meetings

· A typical work week may exceed 50 hours, including both field and office time

· Frequently sit for long periods of time

· Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds
