Job Description

The Bar Manager/Mixologist for Fremont Provisions will join a team of dreamers and doers committed to rural renewal through business and economic development. Your primary role as bartender goes beyond making drinks to providing a first-class, upscale libations with world-class customer service. You will execute bar and dining room beverage service professionally and efficiently with a heart to serve. You will be expected to be able to follow house recipes, and learn drink specials as they are created, as well as, offer insight into new drink offerings and creations.

Housed in a historic storefront built in 1903, Fremont Provisions is Cañon City’s premiere locally-sourced scratch kitchen eatery, known for the intentionally selected products and unique menu options. Successful candidates will have the following:

  • Dependability– a food service employer is only as successful as the team it employs; the bartender is expected to be reliable, on time for work, and consistent with the work they do
  • Physical stamina – the bartender works on their feet for the duration of their shifts, around scheduled breaks, and is constantly moving.
  • Customer service – The bartender inevitably interacts with customers, willingly listening to and assisting customers with their requests, even when they fall outside the bartender’s normal duties. Pleasant, polite manner, and a neat and clean appearance.
  • Facility with bar equipment– the bartender works with niche equipment and resources for the bar, including the handling and distribution of high dollar beverages. Careful attention to stocking and detail is required.
  • Team player – The bartender takes direction from the executive chef and facility managers and is willing to assist other team members to get their jobs done.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand on on your feet for at least 8 hours
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have food handler’s and TIPS certification.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must agree to background check.
  • Greet and welcome guests promptly upon their arrival
  • Show up ready to work, clean and well groomed and wearing the appropriate attire
  • Study the food and beverage specials and present any questions you may have prior to service
  • Maintain skill and knowledge of drinks, drink menu, and be a master of your craft.

What you would be doing at Fremont Provisions:

  • Mixing Drinks- Mixologists make syrups, infusions, tinctures, mixed drinks, and cocktails of all types to fulfill customer orders. Mixologists take orders from customers, serve drinks, and collect money for the orders they fill.
  • Entertain and Educate Guests- Mixologists entertain guests while mixing drinks, talking to customers about spirits and offering trivia and history about various alcohols to keep customers engaged and enjoying themselves.
  • Clean and Organize Bar- Mixologists must keep the bar area clean and organized, maintaining all sanitation standards of the business and local food and beverage laws.
  • Follow Alcohol Laws- At all times, mixologists must adhere to state laws regarding alcohol consumption by checking customer identification and cutting off customers who have had too much to drink.
  • Make Drink Suggestions- Mixologists suggest cocktails and mixed drinks to customers who are unsure about what they want to order.
  • Prepare Garnishes- Mixologists prepare all drink garnishes and keep the garnish station continuously stocked during their shifts.
  • Memorize the table and seating chart- and use it to efficiently deliver food and beverages without "auctioning" at the table
  • Be knowledgeable about Fremont Provisions. This includes aspects of our philosophy, product sourcing hours of operation and any food or drink specials. Also be aware of any special events or ticketed dinners and convey this information to guests in a polite and professional manner.
