The City of Grand Junction is seeking a skilled Automotive & Equipment Crew Leader for the Transit Shop. Under the direction of the Fleet Manager, this position will lead, oversee and participate in the more complex and difficult repairs to Compressed Natural Gas powered Transit Buses. Perform lead worker functions assigning and reviewing daily work, providing input into performance evaluation, training other employees, and acting as a resource to other staff. Writing repair orders, ordering and issuing parts maintaining related records and documentation; performing a variety of technical and administrative support tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility. This position will be scheduled Tuesday-Saturday 6:00AM - 3:00PM.

About the Fleet Team Division:
The Fleet Services Division is responsible for the repair and maintenance of over 700 pieces of equipment that are utilized to serve our community in the areas of Public Safety, Street Maintenance, Wastewater, Water, Solid Waste, Recycling, Urban Forestry, Parks and Open Space, as well as Public Transportation through a collaborative partnership with Grand Valley Transit. What You'll Do:
- Perform lead worker functions including assigning and reviewing daily work, providing input into performance evaluation, training other employees, and acting as a resource to other staff.
- Estimate time, materials, and equipment required for jobs assigned and assist in ordering all parts needed to perform maintenance and repairs.
- Oversee and participate in the establishment and maintenance of complete and accurate records and logs including work orders and equipment, maintenance, and repair records.
- Perform a variety of duties in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical wiring in assigned facilities; install, adjust, maintain and repair electrical timers, electronic and hydraulic valves and controllers.
- Perform wood and metal fabrication on special projects; determine materials needed and basic design; perform gas and electric welding.
- Develop and install complex hydraulic systems on vehicles; determine the amount of pressure and flow needed to operate specialized equipment.
- Assist other departments with incoming vehicle repair and equipment operations and diagnostics; complete related paperwork; advise other departments concerning downtime, problem, and cost.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Qualifications:
This position is a safety-sensitive position, which means you will be subject to random drug screens due to the nature of the work performed.
What We're Looking For:
- Four (4) years of automotive and heavy equipment maintenance and repair experience.
- Possession of Air Conditioning Recovery and Recycle certification.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment: ASE Master Automotive Certification, Master Medium/Heavy Truck Certification, CNG Fuel System Certification.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.; supplemented by specialized training in preventative maintenance and routine repair of gas and diesel-powered equipment or a related field.
- Possession of or the ability to obtain a valid Colorado Class B commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement within one (1) year of employment.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
