General Description of the Role: The district is looking for an Assistant Superintendent to support the Superintendent and Board of Education in ensuring all curriculum and instructional programs are of high quality. The individual will report directly to the Superintendent. The individual will collaborate with building principals to ensure a guaranteed and viable curriculum for all students–preschool through 12th grade. The development of the certified faculty will be the primary responsibility of this individual, including: professional development, licensure, mentoring, curriculum adoption, and best practices in pedagogy. This individual will work closely with principals to ensure faculty are offering quality lesson plans and effectively using instructional minutes. This individual will oversee the district certified staff evaluation system. Previous building principal experience is required. The individual is to ensure all state level reports and data are compliant and timely. The individual will lead the implementation of all state testing and all local assessments to monitor the performance of students, keeping the Board of Education informed. The individual will oversee the implementation of all special populations, including: Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, Alternative Education, and Gifted and Talented. If the Superintendent is unavailable, then the assistant Superintendent will perform executive decision making. This position requires a high degree of collaborative communication and leadership. It also requires substantial organizational and time management skills. Written reports require a skill set that allows for efficiency and accessibility. A high level of autonomy is expected with equal amounts of self-management.

 Qualifications

Required Education: Master’s degree

Licensure: Principal or Administrator license from the Colorado Department of Education Instructional or Life Coaching certification is preferred

Supervisor and Evaluator: Superintendent

Supervises and Evaluates: Student Data Assistant, Special Education Coordinator, GT and ELL Teachers, and any other related curriculum

Contract Days: 240 days (scheduled with supervisor)

Compensation: $105,000 minimum salary

Status: Exempt

Working Conditions: Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional district-wide and statewide travel; frequent meetings after hours to be available for clientele.

 Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Infinite Campus.

 Strong conflict resolution skills.

 Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

 Ability to collaborate with team members.

 Leadership skills that support program objectives.

 Understanding of the IEP, ALP, and ELL process.

 Experience with special populations.

 Knowledge of Response to Intervention (RtI) and Multiple Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) process.

 Knowledge of progress monitoring tools and techniques.

 Knowledge emergency operations, including: leadership, local partners, and plan.

 Knowledge of all educational law.

 Knowledge of alternative campuses, AEC, and blended learning.
