Wage: $18-$20/hr.

Location: Buena Vista, CO.

Job Description:

The Assistant Guide (AG) is friendly, proactive, and energetic. They partner with the Lead Guide (LG) in creating and maintaining a Montessori culture to meet program, school, and family expectations. Professional and courteous communication with all SMMS staff members, families, students, and our community is necessary. The AG prepares and presents activities/lessons in collaboration with the Lead Guide. They are comfortable with mature approaches toward student communication and contribute to a culture of high expectations of young learners and adults alike. Also, upon learning the SMMS conflict resolution process, the AG proves consistency in behavioral redirection and natural consequences. The AG assists in developmental and academic reporting and attends Parent-Teacher Conferences as needed.

Hiring and Accountability

This position reports to the SMMS Lead Guide and School Director.

Required Education and Experience

Primary Duties

● Participate in circle time/class meetings.

● Implement positive classroom management

● Regularly monitor the activity of the students

● Assume the Lead responsibility when the LG is otherwise engaged, including independently overseeing transition periods.

● Assist with/oversee clean-up at the end of the work cycles.

● Clean, stock, and prepare the outdoor and indoor environment before and after school.

● Direct parent/family inquiries in question to the LG or School Director.

● Perform administrative tasks (making copies, taking attendance, record keeping, etc.) as requested.

Compensation Hourly position ranges between $18-$20 per hour depending on experience.
