Location: Florence, CO.

Job Description:

Join a flourishing agriculture department in Florence, CO. We are looking to add a highly motivated and dynamic individual to focus on the animal science pathway. We are doing groundbreaking work through a Multi District Initiative for all of Fremont County. This is a 4 day school week Monday-Thursday with a 32 day extended contract and an additional CTE stipend.

1. Requirements:

Applicant must possess a Colorado Teaching License or be able to obtain an alternative Colorado teaching license by having at least five (5) years experience in a work-related field, Agricultural Science License, and CTE Agricultural Certificate

2. Instructional Program:

The teacher will conduct an instructional program according to the Board of Education requirements and state program approval. The basic curriculum for each course shall be adhered to and:

  • Lesson plans prepared according to district policy
  • Utilize effective instructional strategies and materials
  • Basic skills and abilities of students be developed in the lab classroom

3. FFA/Leadership Development

FFA is an integral part of the instructional program. The teacher will serve as the advisor for the local chapter of FFA. Planning for and supporting students in district, regional, state, and national cooperative activities.

4. Supervise Agricultural Experience (SAE) programs for all students.

To include, but not limited to:

  • Assisting students in selecting a program that best fits their interests and abilities
  • Maintain records and help students maintain needed records Locate training for students in work-based learning experiences
  • Coordinate training experiences that meet instructional needs of students
  • Make supervisory visits during the school year and summer months
  • Supervise the lab classroom for students working in supervised agricultural experience programs

5. Record Keeping and Reporting

The teacher will prepare and submit FFA rosters, entries, registrations, etc. required by the local, district, regional, state offices, promptly. Keep an accurate file copy of all records.

6. Public and Professional Partnerships

Assume a responsible role in public and professional partnerships by actively participating in civic, professional, agricultural, and other community organizations. Keep the public informed on student and program progress and activities. The teacher will work closely with the Agricultural Advisory Committee; serving as a liaison between the Advisory Committee and the district board and administration. The Ag teacher will:

  • Plan for and facilitate Agricultural Advisory Committee Meetings
  • Serve as an ex officio member of the Fremont County Fair Board
  • Utilize newsletters, social media, advertising, etc. to inform the parents, staff, and community of the Agricultural Programs activities and progress.
  • Hold memberships in professional organizations
  • Participate in professional development workshops and in-services

7. Maintenance of Facilities and Equipment

The teacher will maintain facilities and equipment through the following activities:

  • Proper arrangement of the classroom, shop, lab classroom
  • Coordinate the maintenance and repair of tools and equipment
  • Order new equipment and supplies, as needed and budgeted Establish and monitor school procedures for keeping classroom, shop, lab classroom, and grounds neat and attractive at all times
  • Ensure that shop and lab safety is taught and observed at all times.
  • Safety items are available for student use and safety features have been installed and in working order on equipment
  • Conduct an annual inventory of all tools, equipment, and supplies and supply administration with the inventory documentation

7. Off Campus Supervision of Students

The teacher will supervise students at off-campus activities such as conventions, contests, workshops, field trips, etc., associated with the agriculture program and the FFA.

8. Extended Contract Guidelines

The teacher will design and submit a Summer Program of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources to be approved by school administration and the Agriculture Advisory Committee. The teacher will work an extended contract of 10, 11, or 12 months based upon the needs of the students and the summer program requirements. Vacation will be based on contract length. Start date is negotiable.

  • 8.5 hours per day - 161 days per year - 4 day school week
  • Teach all assigned Agriculture classes
  • Ability to instruct students to produce creative and innovative design projects
  • Complete all required reports
  • Provide compensation
  • Attendd meetings before and after school

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

1. Salary according to the Master Agreement

2. Up to fifteen (15) years of outside experience can be credited

3. Health insurance according to Master Agreement

4. PERA, Medicare and Life Insurance

5. Leave days according to Master Agreement
