  • Preference will be given to candidates with post secondary education, previous office experience, and/or experience working in an educational setting

Job Summary:

Fremont RE-2 School District is looking for an Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent and School Board who is a multi-tasker with excellent communication skills, professional, polite and attentive while also being accurate.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the secretary to the Superintendent, including appointments, keeping his/her calendar updated, maintaining correspondence as instructed and assisting with planning and organizing District activities and events.
  • Serve as the secretary to the Board of Education, including recording minutes of all meetings and work sessions, preparing agendas, minutes and attachments for Board meetings; contacting Board members regarding meeting cancellations, special meetings and work sessions; and making arrangements and ordering food for Board meetings and retreats.
  • Manage School Board Policies by making contact with Colorado Association of School Boards regarding sample policies; contacting District’s legal counsel when necessary regarding laws pertaining to specific policies, procedures and state laws; drafting Board policy revisions and new policies as instructed by the Superintendent and Board; and maintaining a current copy of the District policy manual online.
  • Serves as liaison to the public in regard to Board of Education policies, procedures and records.
  • Answer phones, greet visitors, answer questions, and provide information to callers and visitors.
  • Act as the designated election official during all District Elections including candidate elections and District Mill levies and bond issues.
  • Work with Fremont County, El Paso County and Custer County Clerk’s office to organize elections.
  • Distribute candidate petitions and information regarding election to prospective candidates.
  • Check the accuracy of petitions at the County Clerk’s Office.
  • Maintain a strict schedule for election as required by State law.
  • Manage district web pages, social media and the district calendar in order to keep it up to date and aligned with current needs of the district.
  • Prepare materials needed for meetings, procedures and events.
  • Assist with the Master Agreement, Classified Employee Mutual Consent and Student Code of Conduct Handbooks.
  • Maintain Frontline Recruiting and Hiring Software for posting jobs, updating applications, job descriptions and hiring candidates.
  • Maintaining District personnel records.
  • Processing evaluations, contracts, and memorandums of employment, extra duty assignments, staff licensing, certificates and correspondence. Input and maintain employee databases within Infinite Campus and Infinite Visions; assist with the CDE HR Report. Develop and maintain District Instructional Calendar and all employee work calendars
  • Develop and send District newsletters and announcements through Constant Contact and/or School Messenger.
  • Maintain District mailing and postage machine
  • Maintain District system for building alarm codes
  • Responsible for notifying the news stations using Flash Alert about school delays, emergencies or closings

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

  • 195 day contract at 9 hours a day / 4 day school week
  • Salary according to the Classified Salary Schedule (5 years’ experience for same work related experience given)
  • Board meeting time is compensatory
  • District provided benefit package valuing $4,944 to include health, vision, dental and life insurance Leave days according to the Classified Handbook
  • PERA retirement program
